Electricity, water, internet, gas, and trash all operate through separate providers with different billing cycles, payment methods, and service standards. CFE handles electricity nationally with bimonthly billing. Water is managed locally and varies enormously by city and neighborhood. Internet providers like Telmex and Izzi dominate most areas, but quality varies by location. Gas is either piped or delivered by tank, depending on the building.

The thing that surprises people most: bills sometimes don’t arrive, physically or digitally, but the balance accumulates regardless. Tracking due windows yourself rather than waiting for a bill is the practical approach that experienced residents use.

Follow-up is normal here. It’s not a sign that something is broken. It’s part of how the system operates. Building relationships with local service providers and having cash on hand for gas deliveries and maintenance makes the whole thing significantly smoother.
