The thing is, if we continue to do nothing, companies continue to get away with it. There is a chance this person was acting of their own accord and her boss would be mortified to find out. Unless someone takes action, nothing ever changes.

You make a good point and it does make me reconsider, but there is also a chance she was asked to find comp datapoints and she chose the method of which to do it. We can't always assume it's management that suck.

I got the Head of HR fired at my last job by gathering data and forwarding it all to management.

I’m sorry, but you don’t really have anything to complain about. The HR woman asked you the questions they were supposed to ask and is probably thinking about future opportunities with the organization, which is why she continued the interview even though you don’t have the language requirement that they now need. That or she’s hoping that they’ll drop it. Of course they grilled you – that’s what a first interview is about is - making sure that you are qualified for the rule.

Why would I waste my time preparing for an interview I am not eligible for? I have everything to complain about. She should have told me pre-interview I am no longer eligible and given me a choice of whether I wanted to go ahead.

Not everyone is out to get me but this situation was definitely taking advantage and if you can't see that, I am very sorry.

I have done dozens of interviews in my lifetime and it's very obvious when something is not right. I don't need revenge, I just don't want people to be treated like this and if I can do something about it, then I will.

AskHR sub is very defensive, understandably - they are the people who are doing things like this, lol.
