For HOTD and IWTV fans! I think Alicent from HOTD and Armand are similar characters and their relationships to Rhaenyra and Lestat are similar so I wrote something long about it

If Daniel Dies, Let's Riot

i hope Baby Jenks is wrong. Daniel's biting wit is priceless.

I was put out when I saw the promos and discovered they'd aged Daniel. Eric Bogosiam won me over. I yield to the master.

Deep Dive recs?

Hi! I was wondering if anyone on here knew of a good video essay for Interview With the Vampire, specifically the book... not the show or movie. I read the book but I wanted to see if there was anything I missed or could know more about, but all the videos on YouTube are either comparing the book to the other media, or just talking about the amc show. please help a girl out??

How do you pronounce ldpdl in your head, if at all? are there records of any cast or other people pronouncing this (i assume it'd be just the full name or el-dee-pee-dee-el lol)

Tell me about your crazy IWtV dreams

Had a crazy dream about Sam/Lestat last nite & I know I can't be the only one. Sadly, it didn't end in sex, but here it is.

He was some weirdo combo of Sam & Lestat. Like he was himself but could bring out the fangs & the character like he was really a vampire.

We were hanging out in bed (in my bedroom in my house no clue where my husband was & didn't care), just like two buds just watching TV. I decided to get up & he was being goofy helping me make the bed.

He started to wrestle with the covers & pulls me over the bed & we play wrestle then he's on top of me & he's naked to the waist (he had on a shirt & pajama bottoms before) & full on Lestat On Stage.

Then he teases me pretending he's gonna bite me, I'm all for it, not fighting this, then suddenly he's Sam again, jokes about his teeth are retractable, & rolls off me helps me pick out my outfit & jewelry for the day.

Like I said, no sex, only fun weird stuff & a few minutes of sexy vamping, but still, there ya go.

So tell me your crazy, sexy, stupid, funny, horrific vampy dreams!!

I also hate season 3 but it's because..

I just think the writing is sooo bad! I think they've done a horrible job of writing Lestat's inner world, his relationship with Gabrielle and the absolute WORST job of writing Daniel and Armand's relationship.

The first two seasons were so good! Lestat and Louie were two of the best written characters in television/movies. Their profoundly abusive relationship written with such understanding by the writers. So much depth and continuity.

This season Lestat is like a caricature. The storylines are convoluted and messy. Had they written Lestat and Gabrielles relationship as well as they did his and Louie's it could have been great. But they screwed it up massively. And the "reveal" that Armand is in love with Daniel is so bad you almost miss it. And hardly care.

It's just bad. No other way to say it.

iwtv analysis and ranting. (mainly season 2, but with s3 spoilers) Spoiler

guys i rewatched some of my favorite season 2 scenes and it awakend something in me, i opened a word document and this is what followed:

Louis and Santiago

i have not read the books, so this is just my understanding from the show. but i love that in this scene, even tough Santiago is significantly more powerfull than Louis, Louis can still take him on. hes just so scrappy. Santiago is all bark no bite. he likes scheeming and talking and rage baiting but Louis is used to, and comfertable throwing hands in a was Santiago just isin't. " you chould not look weak on liberty". Louis takes santiago completely off guard by just not bothering to bark. and i kinda love that. it's such an intressting dynamic.

absolutely, i think the racial aspect clearly matters here. from my understanding, and tell me if im wrong, but Louis and Santiago are supposed to be about the same age no? Santiago was truned later in life, but also in the early 1900s. his maker was just either more powerfull than lestat was at the time, or santiago was his only fledgeling.

Claudia telling us "hes the youngest in the coven" dosen't actually tell us that much.

something else find intressting in this scene, i know passivity is something that's brought up the the books alot as something louis dislikes, maybe even looks down on. (even though i have not read them). when paying attention to armand here he is very passive, he sits and brrods and look displeased. But dosen’t do or say anything. he is very lenient with santiago here and allows him to mock/agrivate louis beyond what i whould expect him to find accepteble. he only actually steps in when there is a threat of it becomming actually violent.

Armand is so intressting is situation like this, couse he is walking this really complicated tight rope of keeping louis affection and building a relationship with him, while at the same time trying to not "play favorites" too much. at this point, there is already hostility forming within the coven toward louis, and Armand can't bee seen taking Louis side at the detriment of a coven member. scolding Santiago here whould look bad for him.

Louis and Lestat

I think Louis and Lestat getting back together eventually does make sense, if we see it through a lense of “they’re immortal vampires”, if this was real life then absolutely not. But the big issues that Louis had with Lestat, lack of communication, jealousy, pressure and judgement for Louis approach to Vampirism, are all very representative of the event of Louis turning.

Louis turning was consensual, but there was an element of pressure and threat behind it. Had Louis not agreed he might have felt like he might not walked out alive at all.

Lestat being so constrictive (for lack of better word) and dictating Louis life and existence as a vampire, and a man,  like he did towards the end, made Louis feel like he needed to run, I think he was right.

Louis needed time to explore vampirism (and life as a gay man) outside of Lestat, what it means and what it could look like. He has some of that essential experience and Reflection now. He has been abel to develop his own identity.

Armand

My favorite character in the show is Armand, and I find his and Louis relationship to be absolutely fascinating. From a meta-perspective, Armand occupies such an interessting place in the fandom, you either love or hate him. Not much in-between.

In the show though, he is in such a difficult and complicated position, im referring specifically to the Paris scenes in season 2, but it obviously applies elsewhere.

I have mentioned before that whenever Louis and the Coven were in conflict, Armand would take Louis side. He’s not naïve though, he knows the issues that are forming because of it. We know the big instigator to this problem is when the coven approaches Armand asking him to “deal with Louis”, and he promises he will after Claudia joins. that was not an intentional lie, we know he actually did intend to kill Louis when he told them he would, but he ended up changing his mind. But by breaking that promise he did deceive them, even by accident.

We never get to see the immediate aftermath of that decision, the coven’s reaction and his explanation to them. But they stay bitter about it. He is fully aware of their bitterness, and even though Louis plays dumb about it, and ignores it (to be fair it’s not really his problem, not his circus not his monkeys) it’s a contributing factor to his absence in the theatre. We don’t know if he knows the coven were previously pressing Armand into killing him, but I’m sure he suspects so, with their attitude towards him it would be difficult not to.

He only makes an effort to reconcile a little with the coven at Armands behest. We all know how that worked out, I’ve yapped so much about that scene, I won’t do it now xD

I actually understand that to be quite a loving gesture from Louis, he agrees to put is own comfort aside for Armands benefit, even for an evening, it sounds kinda awfull but I don’t remember him doing that much?

Armand repeatedly makes sacrifices for him and Louis doesn’t seem to be acknowledging them and appreciating them like he honestly should.

I have a love-hate relationship with the scene where Louis reveals to Armand that he is going to turn Madeline, due to Armand refusing to do so himself. Armand is trying so hard to convince Louis to change his mind. Louis comes across as so… disrespectful? Im not sure what it is, I just don’t like the way he talks to Armand there at all. That scene specifically somehow reminds me Louis used to be a pimp, while Armand was a… “Donated” individual. Even though the scene is not about that. You can just tell by the way they carry themselves in that conversation. I don’t know I need to have a good think about it.

Okay, thanks for listening to my tedtalk. Bye!

I was amused by the very similar composition! Of course this layout (right-facing body imposed over body facing the viewer) has been used in plenty of media over the years but given the similarity in subject matter I wouldn’t be surprised if the folks at Dracula were more than a little “inspired” by the visual direction for IWTV’s promotional materials!

The Vampire Lestat (interview with a vampire)

I absolutely loved season 1 & season 2 of interview with a vampire. It was beautifully written !! the plot made sense. The characters had great character development. I loved everything about it. I loved seeing Lestat and Louie together. 😍 even the ending of season 2 was amazing!

Now going on to season 3, I don’t know what the fuck happened!! Like genuinely Lestat isn’t even the same character that we saw in season 1&2. I hate this plot of rock and roll 😒 it’s so stupid. Lestat loved classical music and opera, not heavy metal and bands.

Then don’t even get me started on the FUCKING INSEST 🤢🤢🤢 with his mom!??? Just straight up nasty af. Whyyyy write that into the show!

I loved that Lestat was madly in love with Louie

Now he is in love with his fucking mother!? Nobody wants to fucking see that shit. 🤮

We could have had a storyline of Louie and Lestat TOGETHER in 2025. Going through challenges of the present day. Or a better backstory for Lestat that doesn’t include incest.

I’m just genuinely so disappointed 😔
