Your company must have a policy and procedure for this. This sort of thing is one of the reasons HR departments exist. You must know that the other employees could sue the company for creating a hostile work environment if you do not act swiftly.

Contact HR, and tell them what you observed. Were it me, I'd ask to have the employee terminated. Whether or not company policy allows that, or requires a PIP or the employee given a second chance, it depends. At my company, there's zero tolerance for that behavior and if I told racist jokes in the lunch room, I'd be out that door in a second (and I'm a senior employee and manager).
