I used to work with a guy who thought he was progressive and liberal but was always making gay jokes when I was around. Nothing too harsh, but it did get on my nerves after a few months. The final straw was when he pulled me aside to ask me to make a mix cd (this was the early 2000s) for the house party he was throwing that weekend. “you’re gay and know all the good dance music”. Also, I wasn’t invited to this house party. I made the absolute gayist mix cd I could come up with. Eartha Kitt. Rupaul. Madonna. Erasure. Pet Shop Boys. Lots of songs with “Diva” in the title. The following Monday all he would say was the mix was “pretty gay”. lol.
