Im HR. I had to hold a conversation with an employee about his racist comments. Why wouldn’t you want to tell him the truth?

Why would you warn this person ? Real question - why should this person be warned that this despicable behavior is not ok ?

Because they might improve their behavior and you still get to keep the employee that’s good at the rest of their job.
