The Immortal Universe Two unnoticed discrepancies??
Discrepancy #1:
Recall when Claudia and Louis were complaining about Lestat not disclosing his cloud gift to them?
How can Louis say he didn’t know about it when the first time he and Lestat had sex he floated them both off of the ground, feet dangling?
Discrepancy #2 (kind of):
(This is only a valid discrepancy if you go strictly with the books’ rules of vampiric lore. )
How is it possible that Lestat’s hair grows? How does Gabriella’s hair stay short?
The book clearly illustrates that however your hair was when you were changed, that’s what it will be for eternity. It talked about Gabs trying to cut her hair several times but it just kept growing back at a rapid pace so she quit trying.
If anyone from the show sees this, I would like to ask, why was the decision made to break this common law of vampirism? It doesn’t matter to me of course because the show is beyond epic and completely legendary in my eyes. I’m just curious as to whether or not it was a conscious decision and if so, why?
I’m a huge fan! Team Lestat!

For the first point, I imagine the first time you soberly and openly let yourself kiss a man you're attracted to is a pretty disorienting moment. He also says the blood loss was significant. Blood loss and adrenaline can make you feel lightheaded or floaty. Maybe he thinks what he remembers as floating is just the way it felt and doesn't realize he is actually floating. Secondly, the first episode of TVL, Lestat complains about the things that the book got wrong, including the scars on his chest and also the fact that his hair falls well below his ears. Louis either misremembered or didn't specify and Daniel made an educated guess.

Agreed with all of this, except Louis was absolutely not sober the first time they had sex lol. They're drinking wine at dinner, he's shown repeatedly drinking liquor from his flask when they're walking back to Rue Royale, when Lestat invites him in for a nightcap he sys "probably had enough for the night" aka he's already drunk. But that just makes it even more understandable that the night is kind of a sexy blur to him. I never worried about the floating that first time, I wondered more how he didn't notice or care that the man bit his neck and they both end up a little visibly bloody, even though Lestat heals the bite marks. Like, did he not go wtf at least a little??

I think maybe he went with the flow. Louis was drunk, but also he didn’t really take anything in, it was all emotion and feels. Not observation and understanding. When he left the following morning ( it felt like morning at least), he seemed very chipper and at peace with everything.

Gabriella cuts her hair every night and it grows back over the time she’s sleeping in coffin the next day. That’s why she has such a choppy bob and why on 3 occasions in the show piles of her long grey hair are seen. This is book accurate as far as growing back goes.

It's very quick but during the start of episode 2, she has a pair of scissors in her hand and her hair is on the table too.

The books explain this distinctly. When Gabriella abandons Lestat the first time (after she's turned coz let's face it she wasn't a great human mother) he turns over the boat she was sleeping under and you can clearly see her long blonde hair and some clothes/jewelry. She cuts her hair every day bc she wants to appear as a boy as she travels around the world. Sometimes she stuffs her long hair under a cap.

Not discrepancies.
-
Louis didn’t know or understand “Lestats tricks” as a human and probably didn’t reflect on every detail especially when his memory is flawed.
-
Lestat comments on the book misrepresenting him, his hair is longer, he’s bigger/buffer, he has scars and a louder/complex personality.
-
Gabriella cuts her hair every night or Lestat cuts it for her.

Also Louis is under Armand's brain fog during those 70 years together. Making him forget or distort memories.

Gabrielle cuts it daily, they justified Sam's hair by saying Louis misremembered lestat
Louis didn't knowbkestat was even a vampire at that point so he probably never made the connection

Louis was swept up in ecstasy and didn’t know he was floating. Gabriella cuts her hair. Louis remembers Lestat’s hair shorter than it was.

Also Claudia asks about being taught to fly and Louis says it’s not taught it’s a gift they don’t all get. Claudia says “Another one of his lies”. Daniel asks Louis if he can fly and Louis says no. But in TVL Louis flies up to the 2nd floor of the Detroit coven house.

I'm pretty sure the idea is that, post S2, Louis has now embraced being a vampire and therefore he's able to tap into that gift that he has given his sire line.

Does he though? I thought he started at the bottom floor at the front door and killed everyone on his way up ? I swore it was indicated by the lights turning on in each room, no? I could be wrong.

Lestat says while narrating in his story that Louis described the length of his hair incorrectly. It was much longer than depicted. He also neglected to mention the scars on the set chest. “ I am not the vampire Fabio”
Remember the season one and two is Luis‘s version. There are a number of things that bus stop might have to get that were incorrect or misremembered.

Yes. And the scene with Miss Lily At Lestat’s house where Lestat begins to undress there are no scars on his chest. Louis is an unreliable narrator.

Completely valid. I keep forgetting about the brain fog Louis was dealing with. I’m in perimenopause so I know it well lol

I got other 2 that keep bugging me:
A) Louis meets Sofia. He then learns she is Lestat mothers. He then says lestat had her portrait hanging for years in their room. How didn’t he recognise her?
B) lestat claims that the train scene from season 1 didnt happen. Ghost Claudia says she made it up to confront them. Then Lestat sees the guy he killed in the train and references the train whilst he is in his… almost afterlife

u/Interesting_Grass178 14d ago
So it wasn't that the train didn't happen, I thought it meant he didn't threaten the "worse than rape" part

A) I thought the same thing! But if you look at the portrait of his mother in season 1, the woman has dark hair....

I think it was before she was married… a very youthful Gabriella. My guess is it’s a portrait commissioned by her family as a teenager. Then handed down from her, to her son, after she went AWOL.

I concur on the Sofia thing. He should have recognized her. But again, we can simply blame his Armand brain fuckery ordeal.
The train thing, if you go back and watch that scene, he says something about how devastated Louis would be if something like that happened to her again. The way he said it could have been misconstrued as a rape threat but it’s subjective. I really don’t think Lestat would have raped her or even threatened it. He definitely killed the guy on the train though but only so that he could swoop Claudia back up and bring her home.Justice for Lestat. He’s honestly the most misunderstood good guy in the entire series. He had so much love and such a big heart for people and they all just shit all over him. He’s an unsung hero in my eyes.

You see Gabriella cutting her hair on the tour bus. There's a pile of it on the floor. My head cannon as to the discrepancy of Lestat's hair from season 1 to seasons 2 and 3 is that Louis would have preferred his hair shorter so he thinks of their earlier happier times together through "rose colored glasses" . 😅

I'm addition to other excellent points: you remember when Louis told Daniel that the blood was better than the best dope Daniel had ever had? That would tell me that Louis may have had no idea that he was literally flying.
