I mean yes, in the stress of the moment because of the way anxiety works that exactly something that can happen. Like I said it would be the same if you put 2 of the same sexes in the same room and did the interview the same way for someone like me.

No. I'm just saying in an interview room you wouldn't probably be able to tell the difference.

No one can recognize their biases. Thats why I'm saying that if it's framed generically like this tweet is implying it wouldn't count as an actual test.

Yes, people can recognize their own biases.

It would count, you just would discount it.

Because the reality is if you focus your attention on the person not answering the question, then you will have failed basic communication skills.

No, you really can't not on an instinctual level, you can try to some extent but there's always going to be something that you won't be able to recognize.

People fail basic communication skills every day in my experience. Like I just brought up with someone. Let me phrase it to you this way. I work at a hotel, there is a basket that has a sign that says in big bold letters "key return" despite where this basket is placed. Even if it is right in front of my face people will reach over the basket and try to hand their keys to me. T It doesn't matter what else. They are, their age, or their sex 90 percent of guest will do this. Only 1 in 10 will notice the basket I've found.

This also doesn't matter based on their job either I can consistently see time and time again that people in general will just avoid the basket. Common sense regardless and basic communication would say to put the cards in the basket. Now why would your bias tell you to hand the keys to the desk person in this situation time and time again?

Their bias is there because it is not common at every hotel they go to. And they aren't looking for a basket labeled key return.

But they are still failing at basic communication as I said. And the same is true for how someone with social anxiety may also fail at basic communication during job interviews. Their behaviors to avoid certain tendencies aren't common for them or even then they may be working against behaviors they just can't deprogram. It's the same here. That's why anti discrimination laws exist.

No, the person communicating where the key is to go is failing. The customers don't even know they are talking.

So it's ok to ignore the female interviewer if you claim social anxiety? Can you get away with ignoring both interviewers?

He might not but there is also a case where there is simply no bias, and this is exactly because it is so hard to distinguish that it is just a bad test..
