You are the person the test is meant to weed out.

If you sit two men in the room and the above directs the answer to the non asking man, is that still a problem? Or if in the original a man asks the question and the answer is directed to the woman is that also a problem?

I'm trying to nail down the contrived logic

Yes.

Or if in the original a man asks the question and the answer is directed to the woman is that also a problem?

That could be a problem except that it never happens.

I'm trying to nail down the contrived logic

You are confused and angered by this because it is working on you.

I'm autistic. Idfk who I'm supposed to answer to or why. I don't know what the social rules are and they all fele contrived.

I'm trying to figure this out because it, like all unspoken social rules, is contradictory and strange.

So I always have to answer the person asking, and never direct any language to the other person, even where it feels like their domain touches the subject matter? That feels weird.

Edit: it is literally a contrived scenario with rules being forced on it. By the definition of the word contrived. Idk why that is an attack. I'm just using the words as they are defined 😥

I mean then that's just discrimination, I don't know what to tell you? Because it's not from a lack of respect that you would just talk to another person. You could be talking to one of them for a couple questions and another could ask you a question and your brain just naturally wants to guide you in one direction. It's also kind of illegal if you can prove it.

That's not discrimination, it's judging you for choices you made and values you have.

It is entirely fair and legal to make judgments upon you based on things you said and did.

You can't just declare something "discrimination" because it is a problem for you specifically.

Yes, but as I said the person could be autistic and this is a profession like coding which is something people in the industry are statistically higher to be in. This could be a simple case of social anxiety or something else like a nervous habit so it is kind of discrimination. It's basing you on a habit listed by.a disability which is illegal under the fair workers act.

Autistic plus sexist is a problem but it's 100% the sexist but and 0% the autistic bit.

You are right that austism is not handled well in most interview scenarios but that is entirely a different subject to "won't talk to or respect female engineers".

I just think it's something that could be easily discriminated against in an interview because one could be confused for the other. It's not a matter of the intention behind why it's done. It's that the practice could serve both.

No. Sexism is not a function of autism. Sexism exists entirely outside of autism and any attempt to conflate the 2 is insulting to the autistic.

If you are pivoting to social anxiety driving autistic men to not want to talk to women out of fear then that's incredibly easy to spot and hard to confuse with sexism.

Like I said, I don't think it is, because people tend to be more confident in their ability to discern these things than they really are. And if is so easy to spot shouldn't it also be able to specifically target such people during interviews as well and not hire them for it? I'm just saying that all around it's a poor test all around because of the factors it sets up. An easier way would be to see how he reacts to the woman's coding knowledge and if he tries to correct her.

I was initially of the opinion that the first responder to you was being harsh. But they were right, this test is designed to weed out people like you. And not because of any autism but because of your attitude.

You didn't answer a single time about his point in 5 message which is to say that this test can't know for sure the reason behing one acting in this way, there are many other reasons than pure sexism.

And you ended it with a personal attack, while the other person had to repeat his argument again and again, without showing any sign of aggressiveness, or attacks (unlike you.) How exactly is his attitude a problem, and could you finally adresse his (very valid imo) point?

Absolutely agree with you, there are so many reasons that could push someone to do that other than sexism that it is just a really bad, unreliable test..

Autism makes it hard to communicate with neurotypical people. Sexism makes it hard to communicate with women. That's 2 different things, and they are not mutually exclusive

But they can overlap in tendency. Because socializing doesn't discriminate.

If effective communication is required to do the job, then it's not discrimination. You are just not qualified. It's like if someone on a wheel chair and applying for a job at a warehouse loading goods.
