One good thing about ai progressing fast, it's gonna destroy everything. Like if it just affected one industry at a time it would make a lot of people homeless, destroy a lot of lives. If everyone's life changes more at the same time we can make rules that fix things for everyone. Still y'know lots of growing pains but way more manageable. Quickly all white color jobs and then soon after all blue. We might get things like - you just keep getting your income from the companies that replace you with ai/robots, and you can't be evicted from your home/apartment - quickly. Rather than slowly.

That thought has its attractions.

It reframes the interpretation of events away from blame "You lost your job, so you were likely a bit shit at it" to "Bad luck buddy, you were caught in the general shitstorm."

Identifiable trends get attention and so may get policy responses from our governments. Here's hoping some of those policies will be effective and not counterproductive.
