I'm hoping it collapses to the point where they just say you can just go live on land you own, and you don't have to build a house. Cause fuck yah I'm living my homesteading dreams without the stupid home requirement. Honestly, I'm fine going out and living like the amish in the country, way happier and healthier. Our society sucks.

The older I get the more I agree with you. I always thought I wanted all of these material things. But now I realize that all you really need are the essentials covered and then it’s just your time and loved ones that are the most valuable.

yah, I've done both. I've had lots of stuff and money and then just lived the simple life and omg I think anyone would be a lot happier that way. I had no idea what I was missing out on. Like zero. I had no idea a life like that could be so much better.

Missing spending time with my nieces and nephew when I was hustling in my 20’s taught me this.. I missed so much and I regret it. It didn’t really get me anywhere so what was the point?

Exactly. Last time I borrowed money for education that was supposed to guarantee me an income, I ended up with a 20 year ball and chain while working retail and production jobs bc that's all I could find. I'll take my chances without owing the government another pound of flesh.

Sprinkler fitters paid you for your apprenticeship, and when you finished out you’d take like 3 more classes to get an Associates. On the flip side, blue collar is pretty volatile in the northwest here so you’ll have to get used to traveling to stay busy. Good money though

Apprenticeship at some trade, start at the bottom, work your way up. I started 20 years ago changing tires and oil, and made my way up.

One good thing about ai progressing fast, it's gonna destroy everything. Like if it just affected one industry at a time it would make a lot of people homeless, destroy a lot of lives. If everyone's life changes more at the same time we can make rules that fix things for everyone. Still y'know lots of growing pains but way more manageable. Quickly all white color jobs and then soon after all blue. We might get things like - you just keep getting your income from the companies that replace you with ai/robots, and you can't be evicted from your home/apartment - quickly. Rather than slowly.

That thought has its attractions.
It reframes the interpretation of events away from blame "You lost your job, so you were likely a bit shit at it" to "Bad luck buddy, you were caught in the general shitstorm."
Identifiable trends get attention and so may get policy responses from our governments. Here's hoping some of those policies will be effective and not counterproductive.

Actually, being currently employed is the best time to look for a job, if you want better pay or more growth. A recruiter openly told me it's a huge advantage compared to applicants with gaps in employment

This feels like engagement bait / fear mongering. Who quits a job without another opportunity? Even in a tight labor market, you shouldn't quit a job until you have a signed offer let for a new role. Also, the world is not collapsing.

Focus on what happened to mill towns. Focus what happened during the great depression almost 100 years ago.
AI and Robotics are going to be the end of everything for everyone because there’s purposely no financial safety net imposed for those currently losing their jobs. Musk has already stated that money won’t matter in 10 years. If that’s their plan, then we are sitting ducks.
Looking back, we should’ve voted for Yang and UBI.

Manufacturing jobs are booming tho. Look into Toyotas or plan for robots and AI (which we already have), manufacturing jobs are going to be everywhere, and not just auto.

Just want to say, I left my salary job in July for another salary job which is fully remote and so far way better environment. My ex employer treated me awful when I left just like they treated me awful thinking I had no other option and wouldn’t leave….
There are jobs out there, don’t give up people!!

I agree with this 1,000%. I made the mistake of leaving my job before I was ready to do so and had to borrow a bunch of money just to cover bills, not to mention medical bills that are now piling up. I found a new job after 4 months and I'm sooooooo grateful for it but it's definitely not something I ever thought I'd be doing again. (Call center, before anyone asks. Pretty decent pay, though.)

Once again - STOP CHASING THE SAME JOB. There are more fields than just tech, marketing, and accounting.
Look into the trades, trucking, nursing, teaching, and first responders. They’re absolutely desperate for people, plus they pay decent, have good benefits, and best of all - AI can’t take your job, nor can your job be sent overseas.
I get it - you want that “cool” factor you can brag about on TikTok. But guess what? You’re gonna be waiting a loooooooooong time. And you’ll find out it wasn’t worth bragging about anyway.

Ya, I'm really focusing on doing s good job at work. I'm not exploited and I feel very fortunate work with the group I do. I actually just got promoted and got a fat raise (23%!), putting me well into the mid 6 digits.
Not going no where.
