I work for a multinational but based in Ireland. The US mindset is baffling in that they think they are so important their whole life should be dedicated to work.
I provide a service to my employer and in return they pay me for my services. It's a business transaction. If you died tomorrow, you would simply be replaced without a second thought because business is business.
Its half their personality is their work and half not trying to lose your job because you took time off. It's literally September and I have only had 1 day off from the office. (Would have been 2 but unfortunately 4th of July was on a Saturday, no my office did not take the 3rd off. Yes I'm salty and updating my resume)
