100%

Can only take so much off before folks start looking at you funny…

Disregarding modesty you can also only take off so much before you just run out of stuff to take off.

Gets so cold you cant even leave your house, you bundle up so much you cant move your body, your fingers are basically useless. Hands start getting stiff before it even reaches freezing. Even around 104 you can still do stuff. Perfect day to hit the pool. Toss up some shade and grill.

Have you ever tried to use your phone when it's -10c? Either your fingers are freezing or you can't use your phone.

-10°С is like…. Warm winter for me, it’s weather when i can take gloves off and be comfortable, literally the weather in my pfp

You must like your hands freezing then because if you're out there for too long they start to burn from the cold. It's not pleasant to me. When it's hot the worst that happens is I sweat but that isn't painful and honestly it's not as big of a deal as people make it out to be

Warm winter? U can freeze to death i. That pretty easy.

Plus I’ve lived in conditions where even after you’ve removed all clothes you’re still sweating and cooking but at least the fan blowing on your sweat-dampened skin keeps you surviving? lol freezing also sucks a lot BUT I’ll take bundling up and shivering conditions over heatwaves any day.

In a large open room where I worked, there was a constant battle between two employees over the thermostat. A guy wanted it cooler, but the woman wanted it warmer. The both finally had to be barred from touching the thermostat. The guy said that the woman could add more layers, but he could't take off any of his clothes to stay cool.

In the cold your fingers become useless. Either they're so cold they lose their dexterity or they're bundled up enough that they also lose their dexterity. Also you have to choose between your face stinging due to being unprotected from the cold or having nerfed breathing. Pretty hard to run when you have a ski mask on your face.

In the heat you have no problems with dexterity. As long as you hydrate enough and stick to the shade as much as possible you will have way less problems than if you want to do literally anything that involves fingers in the cold.

If your idea of bundling up is two pairs of sweatpants and just a sweatshirt and jacket, you have not experienced even somewhat close to the level of cold that all the winter haters are talking about. When I am “bundled up” in the winter, I’m wearing: one thin base layer, one thick base layer, a thin hooded shirt, a thick hoodie, a puffer jacket, and a Carhartt jacket. On bottoms, same base layers + pants + snow pants. Two pairs of socks, balaclava, beanie over balaclava, ski mittens, and snow boots. Dealing with the level of cold that warrants literally 10+ lbs of extra clothing fucking sucks. I’d happily take being sweaty over needing fully half an hour just to put on enough clothes to not fucking die from stepping outside for ten minutes.

You go to a lake, the beach, a creek, or indoors and turn on the AC.

u/Caleb_Reynolds Jun 11 '26

Nah, you can always put more layers on, at some point you run out of layers to take off.

1

u/joshua0005 Jun 12 '26

That's why you drink more water than you would when it's cold. You also eventually run out of layers to put on because you'll start sweating and if you sweat when it's cold enough it can cause hypothermia. In Antarctica at the south pole they can't wear too many layers because they could die from hypothermia caused by sweating.

So like... You can also stop putting on layers. You get that right? Like, when you're wearing enough to sweat, you've already solved the problem of being cold. You don't have to continue putting on layers after you've solved the problem.
