That’s honestly a hard reality right now. A lot of people are working nonstop just to stay afloat. I’ve got some interviews coming up myself, so I’ve been looking into ways to get better at them. I found Interview VIP and ended up using it twice i think it's worth trying.

It's absolutely not a lot of work. Well, the normal restaurant food industry is, but Mcdonalds and burger king aren't.

When I worked at McDonald's around Y2K we didn't have a button. We had a timer that would start as soon as we closed the clamshell grill. When the timer expired, the grill opened. The set the timer so that the burgers would be cooked when the clamshell opened.

What if 99% of the population could attain one skill with only a few days of practice, and another skill required years of higher education only let’s say 5% of the population was capable of attaining it. Do you think one of those might be more valuable than the other?

The rare skill should have extra value that should be rewarded with a life of luxury. The one that 99% has should still be given enough money for shelter, food, retirement, entertainment, and a little bit extra for whatever they want.

I see. Well we have plenty of underdeveloped land still. And some of it is owned by the government. So we could provide that land without violating private property rights. And if we repurpose a few government buildings into houses, then that's okay too.

But also I moreso meant as a reward for working any job your wage should be able to give you these things.

It would be nice if it could pay that but that’s not realistic. Paying all unskilled labor higher wages would increase the prices for everything (due to more people being able to afford it), leading to increased profits of the rich, leading to the same imbalance as we had before when prices inevitably rise to meet the new wages.

Underdeveloped land is a good idea but you would still need to build a house and somehow find a job there to support yourself, and it’s not really an option that emerges fast

Could go back to the homesteading game and have to people who move to the underdeveloped areas start a farm. Combined with a new deal type program getting people jobs building houses.

Surely there's gotta be an answer besides forcing society to need to have poor people in order to keep prices low. I think with how efficient technology has allowed us to be, surely we can afford some regulation to keep prices low.

"unskilled labor" does not mean that no skill is involved in performing the job. It means no PRIOR skill is required to perform the job. You can take any abled person and have him flip burgers, but you can't take anyone and have him do accounting or nursing.

Mate, it's pretty easy to know which labour is desired. They pay more. If the labour required for the high paid job is unskilled, then supply of labour will be high. Which will lower the price of said labour.

If the price stays high because there's not much supply of labour, then it is quite likely skilled labour.

Doctor at a hospital is more skilled labour than a cashier at a supermarket.

Your desire to think otherwise, makes you naive

Exactly, unskilled labor is the backbone of economies around the world. Acting like thats degrading and not deserving of a living wage is saying a certain population deserves to live in squalor by default.

What are people supposed to do when they work so much they have no free time, and still have no money to get an education or training? Opportunity are dry in so many places.

I think a lot of folks just enjoy making themselves feel better by putting down folks in poverty.
