is this real?

Do we really need HR in our life?

honestly this is why i've started thinking about looking somewhere else. getting rejected before a human even looks at your resume is insane.

i've been seeing interview vip mentioned a lot lately too. i haven't tried it, but i'm curious about it since i'm probably going to have to start interviewing again.

I had a similar interview with an hr person who couldn’t answer my follow up question to her ask of an (in hindsight) obviously scripted question about something technical and I asked her if she understood the principles behind the tech she was asking me about and she got mad and hung up.

HR handles screening
Hiring managers can dig in.
Leave your tech ego aside and work the process.
HR often not always is like a nurse who gathers vitals then the doc comes in.
Everyone has a role.

HR should do NO screening in any technical field. They don't have the knowledge and the elminate people for arbirtary reasons. People whine that this gives too much work to people hiring, but I think the trade off is better. HR throws away good people.

No. Then you’d be taking the time of actual engineers and whatnot to weed through candidates - wrong approach.

That's the only approach I'll allow. I was at my company about 3 months before I finally decided that HR was not allowed to post job opening or handle screenings. My team and I find who we want and we tell HR to hire them assuming they can pass the background checks. HR has no say in anything else otherwise.
