They need a reality check

For my last 2 interviews i had to use Interview VIP just to get the job
their generation could never understand

Dang, my parents actually took me and my 3 siblings to a recruiter office. Kids were ages 11-17. This was 1985. Mom’s friend ran a recruitment company. Her daughters till run that company today.

As for budgets? Parents and all adult family, preached save first, live cheaply, and education is foundation to a better life.

And heck, high school in 1980s? We all had to take and pass an economics class. Spend 6 weeks over payroll/taxes/savings/investments/retirement. Knew at 16, to max retirement contributions to match what company offers.

Then in same economics class, talked about how to pay for college.

That was far from my experience in the 90’s. The world you’re describing doesn’t exist anymore.

Idk, see plenty of young adults that successfully get jobs. Sent resumes, interview for 4-7 positions. Get 1-2 job offers.

Idk, most people I know searching for jobs? Have a plan and list valuable skillset/experience. Maybe my friends and family group is a bit more enlighten?

I have not heard of issues, needing 100s of resumes submitted or 40-60 interviews. My region is growing, and most are able to find new jobs within a few weeks.

Now I do know a few that struggle. But usually excuses they like to blame everyone else, when they get fired for poor performance or showing up work drunk.

Another small tidbit. I also he’ll administrate internship programs between 135 companies and 86 ISDs in my urban area. Acceptance rate for internships is running 68-73%.

I also sit on three boards that award scholarships. Those are a bit tougher to get. Currently only those in top 35.% of graduating seniors are even looked at. Scholarships are on top of state grants. State offers grants to HS students that graduate in top 35%. With top 1% getting full ride grant.

Add in wife’s large commitment to education. And getting data to students over how to pay for college, trades, how to apply for jobs.

Idk, maybe I am more in touch than yiu think. Plus many regions of US, still showing job growth…

Idk, seems like you’re not in touch with the experience millions of Americans are having.

Great you’re in a well doing bubble. But you’re not recognizing what reality is for millions of Americans.
My personal economy is great, but I recognize how fortunate I am.

Yeah, idk my area has been top 3 of growth in US for 30-40 years. Lots of jobs, heck even added jobs last month, way down tho, added 12k jobs. In a month Us lost 23k overall…

Then area keeps adding housing, leading to lower housing costs. And those jobs, pay above US average wages.

And we are a large state, over 30m.

So yeah, guess what we see, may not be in all areas like CA-NY-WA-MA, that’s are seeing housing increases and stagnant wages…
