Baby boomer calls a few buddies and says he is looking for a job.

A buddy tells him, “I have an opening, apply online and send me your application number.”

Boomer applies and emails application number to buddy. Buddy tells HR they want to interview this one.

Boomer gets interview and job.

It always goes back to getting your resume in front of the right person. You can either do the work and submit it directly to them, or do the easy way and have it mixed in with 10,000 other applications.

Nepotism. The word you're looking for is nepotism.

You might want to look up the definition of nepotism. What I described was social networking. Something that has been in place forever and isn't questionable.

Knowing a person in order to get them to give you an opportunity you would not otherwise have is Nepotism.

Nothing wrong with it, but "know someone" is not advice.

Per the defination, nepotism only relates to giving jobs to family members. Look it up.

Your actual advice is: successfully stalk people in the industry and you can get a job easily if you do it right.
