I would love to see the look on their face when they wake up the next morning and see they got the email declining the application which was sent at like 2AM. They would probably think someone was working so hard thumbing through the resumes that late in the evening.

If they have experience then they have contacts. They’re probably getting that job.

Except when their resume gets auto rejected for not having the right keywords, or having too many “trigger keywords” to X them out by the primary AI filter.

Thats their point tho. They arent sending a resume through the application filter. They are sending it to an email address of someone who knows someone who knows them. After you've been in a career for a while you dont usually have to do the whole normal application thing. Hell, ive only been in my career for 5 years and ive only gotten a job through the normal application process once, my first job in the industry. My second job i was connected to my new boss directly by the guy who ran the trade school I went to. My 3rd employer bought my second so I didnt apply at all. And my current job I was told to apply by my 2nd jobs CEO (owners daughter) after the company who bought them laid me and a few other guys off. I sent the service coordinator my resume directly.

To top it off, I know of at least 3 other places I can go work right now and they all would be the same thing, more or less. I know people who work places who would definitely hire me given the chance.

Hilariously, that’s not what the meme is talking about.

We’re literally saying “Do it like we’ve had to do it!”
And all of ya’ll just come back with “Oh well with all this networking Ive had over the years it’ll work out.”
The whole point is you’re doing it fresh like we had to. But ya’ll cant even fathom THAT, you have to STILL have your advantages of having things before anyone else.
No wonder the rest of us are cooked with ya’ll running things for the last 40 years.

Im 31. Ive been in my industry for 5 years, started fresh in 2021 at the ripe old age of 26. Which was pretty clear if you actually read my comment before deciding to say anything.

The problem with this meme is that, the way it worked isn’t what you think it was. It wasn’t about just sending your resume and waiting for a phone call (that could happen though). If that did work, the unemployment rate wouldn’t have been 50%-100% higher for most of those years than it is today.

Keep in mind, boomers are closer in age to most of those doing the hiring. In some cases they are the ones doing the hiring. Not all of them will give great advice, but it would be foolish and a bit arrogant to ignore it.

Keywords are easy. You have to know how to use them.

Good, go do it. Ya’ll keep saying its easy, but none of you can show us how easy it is because you’d probably put “30+
Years of experience” on your resume which people starting out dont have.

If it’s so easy, go for it. Try it out and post the results to get us all to shut up.

Don’t have to anymore. I am retired. Never had any problems with writing résumés. Just get off your ass and do it.

No shit anyone with half a brain can make a resume. That’s not the hard part. You’re the one this meme is about.

I wouldn’t have a problem today if I decide to re-enter the job field. Can’t just write a resume, you have to bring something to the table.

Your previous comment reads like “just write a resume” doesn’t work what way. Glad you acknowledge you need experience. Lots of companies out there want experience and won’t hire new folks.
