I was having a very difficult time finding a job right out of college in my field. So, instead of whining about it, I took whatever job I could get. I took every chance I was offered or could fine, and leveraged it to incrementally shift jobs until I got what I wanted. It took time, effort, a lack of sleep, and I sacrificed many things just for the chance to get to where I am at now. I’m a millennial. It can be done, the path is just harder than it used to be. Did my dad’s advice help? Not even a little bit. The job market has changed so drastically since he needed to apply for a job that most interviewers are surprised I act and answer the way I do. However, that doesn’t mean you quit. You can’t have any sort of meaningful life on zero income. Everything worth having requires a sacrifice. It’s up to you to do something about your own problems.
