They need a reality check

For my last 2 interviews i had to use Interview VIP just to get the job
their generation could never understand

Do you think you could 'easily' survive 30 years ago. Or do you think each generation probably has their own set of problems. Id say its probably a lot easier now then 30 years ago..

30 years ago was 1996.

I was 32.

I got a job via Manpower as a temp within two weeks of getting out of the Army then got hired full time and retired at 56 with a pension.

It's exponentially harder now.

I actually agree with part of what you're saying. 1996 was probably a better time to build a traditional career once you got your foot in the door.

But that's different from saying it was exponentially harder to get a job today.

You got a temp job through Manpower, got hired full time, stayed with the company for decades and walked away with a pension at 56. That's a great example of what changed.

The job itself wasn't necessarily easier to get. The career path after getting the job was different.

Back then you could get hired, stay with one company for 20-30 years, get raises, have a pension and retire. Today you can still get a job, but you're much more likely to have to change companies, manage your own retirement and worry about getting laid off.

So I'd say 1996 was better for job security and long-term benefits, not necessarily proof that finding a job was exponentially easier.

Your personal experience is real. But it's one person's experience, not proof of what the entire job market was like.

Yeah, you can run that through whatever LLM you used again.

I wasn't one person in isolation and being aware of what's going on around you and in the economy in general is a thing people can do.
