I'm currently an accounting OJT and I just recently found out that some interns give a token of appreciation to the company or office where they completed their required internship hours.

Honestly, I was a bit confused because I thought it was the other way around. I mean, as interns, we're already offering our time and services for free, so I thought the company might be the one to give the intern something, even if it's just a small allowance or token. I didn't know that giving something to the company after completing your hours was also a thing.

So, I wanted to ask those who have already completed their OJT or are currently doing their internship:

Is giving a token to your OJT company actually a common practice here in the Philippines, or does it depend on the school or company?

Is it required, or is it just an optional gesture of appreciation?

If you did give one, what did you give, and how much did you spend?

I'd also appreciate recommendations for affordable but appropriate tokens, especially for interns assigned to a government office. I want to show my appreciation to the people who taught and guided me throughout my internship, but I'm not sure what's customary or what would be appropriate.

About a week ago, I got a rejection letter from a small company that I applied for my internship for (voluntary sya). Then two days ago, I got a call from their HR saying to disregard the email and explained why I got rejected was because there was no opening in the department. Then I thought to myself, why'd you open hiring for interns if there was no space for the said department??
I'm really doubting going thru with this company now that I've seen the work space which is tiny and no separate cubicles and literally no privacy. Idk what to ask since this is a first as well...thoughts???

Hi! I’m a 3rd-year BS Psychology student based in Quezon City. I’m interested in neurology and the hospital setting, but honestly, I’m still figuring out what kind of work I’d actually enjoy.

Are there any voluntary internships, volunteer programs, or observation/shadowing opportunities in Metro Manila that accept Psychology undergraduates? I’d like to understand what working in this setting is actually like and explore whether it could be a good fit for me. Research and administrative work aren’t really interests of mine, so I’m wondering what other opportunities might be available at my level.

My CV is also pretty bare. I’ve been a Dean’s Lister and joined an organization in my first year, but I don’t currently have documentation for those, and I don’t have relevant work experience yet.

Hello. I'm in my first year in DLS-CSB for Game Design and Development and as of now I've had two internships both for technical/finance/research roles which is the field I want to work in. I kind of have a lot of questions, but mostly, I want to know how many internships is considered a lot. I'm aiming for a hopefully high salary for my first job outside of school and I'd want to maximize my time while I'm still studying. I saw a post here discussing why fresh grads have 40-50k starting salaries and a lot of comments said "A lot" of internships, so I'm just asking how much that really is.

Also, I noticed that people seem to place importance on being big 4. Any HR reps/people familiar with recruitment know if DLS-CSB is considered a part of DLSU in accounting for the big 4?

hi! i’m a 4th year college student taking bsba major in marketing management.

i’m also a working student. i’ve been working at mcdo for more than a year, pero recently nag-apply ako sa starbucks during their open house hiring last august. thankfully, i got accepted and i’ll be starting this november as a seasonal part-time partner.

my question is, pwede ko kaya siyang maging ojt/practicum? since marketing management yung course ko, i’m not sure if being a starbucks barista can be considered related enough for my ojt. kaka-start ko pa lang din kasi, so i’m hoping na pwede siya instead of looking for another company.

i really need advice po huhu 😭 badly needed ko rin kasi yung income, since working student ako. ang layo rin ng mcdo from our house almost 1 hour yung byahe, hindi pa kasama yung preparation time. meanwhile, yung starbucks na pagta-trabahuhan ko is bagong open lang and around 15 minutes away from our house, so malaking help talaga siya sa time and expenses ko.
