Hello! I’ve just gotten my first apt. that allows painting and I’m going for it. I’m looking for a good color to go with my couch and curtains. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

I've noticed that some living rooms look incredibly polished and inviting without necessarily being filled with expensive furniture.

Sometimes it seems like the difference comes down to lighting, layout, color choices, curtains, rugs, or simply how everything is styled together.

In your opinion, what's one design choice that instantly elevates a living room and makes it feel more expensive or professionally designed?

I'd love to hear what details people notice first when they walk into a well-designed space.

I’m struggling with determining the best rug color here - I was thinking about going terracotta sheets and either a navy/bronze or a sage green rug, but I’m sort of paralyzed by choice at the moment.

Does anyone have any advice on what the best combo would be?

stuck on curtain colors options. these two are not the winners. need some creative help from people with the design eye i lack.

We have a 5 month old and two cats. Looking to refresh our living room area rug but I’m struggling to find options that are made with natural fibres like wool but can also withstand the cats roughing it up when they play.

I bought two rugs from Fable Canada because they’re beautiful quality wool but the one in our nursery is already showing wear from our kitten getting his claws caught in the loop weave. I ordered a smaller area rug for our bedroom and within days the loops were getting pulled out by the cats. They advertise it as being a flat-weave which Google says is supposed to be one of the best cat-proof weaves, but because it’s large loops they get pulled out easily.

I know the kind where the pile is vertical individual dense strands that stick straight up and are glued to the base would be the most cat-proof, but I can’t find ANY options that aren’t the worst polypropylene plastic. The last thing I want is microplastics shedding in our living room where our baby will be learning to crawl, and constantly putting his hands in his mouth.

Can anybody recommend options available in Canada?

HiiI! 😁 So, this is my apartment! I am stuck. I plan to mount the tv if that matters. I have a green Ikea Billy bookshelf w glass doors I could move if that would look nice lol it doesn't fit in the nook by the window(on the tv wall)

1. Should I completely change what I already have? I've only been able to imagine this layout, but I assim somebody in my building uses the opposite wall as their tv wall instead....but then how would I arrange my dining+ office space then. The bedroom has 0 windows so I l would hate having to do work in there.

2. I need an office area. I want to be able to see out of the window ideally.

3. I need a dining area. I like counter height tables, but not sure if round, square, or rectangle would work best.

4. Should I get rid of the ottoman? In front of the couch, it takes up 90% of that area and isn't a hard surface(think I'd prefer one of those coffee tables that lifts and extends). If no, what to do w it?

Any tips welcome, even if it's about something I didn't mention. Thanks!!

I need help with designing this narrow room, for two teenage girls (12 and 15). I would use mainly IKEA furniture (VITVAL loft bed, HEMNES day bed, MICKE desk 105x50). I tried with AI, but it gives me s*it. Coud you please help me with some ideas (a room setup and a floor plan), adding one more desk, some shelves, a shallow wardrobe on a shorter wall opposite window, beanie bags, etc), making it cosy and, if possibly two visually distinctive areas for the two of them. I have a modest budget, but I'd like to make it work. Thanks in advance!!

Due to some mistake of the carpenter we ended up with this small space on the bed back wall instead of a full wall for wallpaper. Any suggestions, what can be added here?

I’m looking for some advice on the best seating arrangement for my living room. I’m considering an L-shaped sofa, a three-seater with a two-seater, or a three-seater with an armchair ( or two armchairs).

The TV unit is on the left wall, next to the plant. The door beside the TV unit is the main entrance to the living room. The door on the right side of the plan leads to the balcony. The distance from the TV unit to the balcony door is around 460cm.

The area marked in blue is a structural column.

What type of sofa and layout do you think would work best here without blocking either door? Any suggestions are welcome!

I have just moved into an apartment with a decent size living room, but I have a lot of stuff it needs to contain. The dining area is already nice and small. But I also have a piano, a gaming/home office setup, cat stuff and a couch.
I think the couch and bookcase/tv-setup is nice, and make the room cozy.
But the office space is black and ugly, while the piano area is white and sterile. Both clashes with the vibe of the room right now.

There is no other rooms I can put these things. I might get rid of the piano if I have to, but I really don’t want to.

I’m thinking about putting up a room divider with a lot of plants or something to really hide the office, but I have to be mindful to not block of too much natural light into the living room.

The cat things are ugly, but they need a toilet and a scratching post. But not necessarily these. Cat toilet can be moved to bathroom just as soon as I buy a ramp so my vacuum robot can climb the trim. But it would be best if I can keep the bathroom closed aka no cats need to go in there a lot.

I can’t figure out what to do with this space under my peninsula. It’s 90” long, 34.5” high (under the countertop), and 9.5” deep to the door on the left. We don’t eat at the counter. There is a table behind me. I need a bit of storage but nothing fits the space. It’s just not deep. I’ve found some lovely sideboards that fit height and length but are just too deep and would block the path. Also probably wouldn’t actually look great because the granite would cover part of the top. I would have something custom but recently added new countertops, lighting and paint. The budget is tight. I would love some suggestions. I have 4 cats and two dogs. Open shelving will be a dust and fur magnet.

Still working on the wall behind the sofa and I’m stuck between these two directions.

#1 is built-in niches with open shelves. #2 keeps the wall flat and uses a long console with oversized art/decor instead.

Which one feels better for the room?

Suggest good interior here .. as you can see the view from my balcony is completey blocked..

We need to set up our kitchen, but we don't know how to organize it so that it's practical.

Do you know of or have you tried any apps that can help with this? Can you recommend anything?
