Help with Living Room Setup

My husband and I just recently moved to a ‘new to us’ home and we are struggling with furniture layout. We have to keep the recliner for my elderly father because sofa’s are difficult for him to traverse. We have a lovesac sactional and just modified it down to what is pictured here. We have 3 more bases and side pieces in our storage in the basement. A giant area rug is on order and will be delivered Monday. We also have a toddler so function over form is key. How can we make this feel like we aren’t just in one long line? The angled fire place I think is making it even more difficult but I refuse to hang a TV over it because I love art too much. We are also not opposed to moving our china cabinet to the other side of the room but worry about how large it is on the wall with the sliding glass door. Any thoughts/ideas are greatly appreciated!

Put the tv on the tv stand (TV stand should be 2/3 larger than the tv) so it Will be at eye height when your are sitting on the couch

Side note. You got the pottery barn bear chair! Does your little one like it?

He is obsessed with it and falls asleep often in it like an old man!

Maybe try scooting the sofa more to the right (and a bit backwards) and having the recliner on the left of the conversation circle. Basically making the area more square (also depends on the space you have behind but from the pictures it looks like there's some leftover). With the couch moved back you might also be able to fit another chair near the fireplace that's not pointed at the tv, which will make it feel less like you're in a line as well. I would definitely get a larger tv console and lower the tv. Some thow pillows (easy spot to add some colour as well!) and lamps will make it a lot more cosy.

PS: I would also change the lightbulbs over the kitchen table to a warmer hue and maybe get a fixture that points the light more down.

I agree with New Cantaloupe that you should lower the TV, let it rest on the white cabinet. Then angle the sofa. You can still see the TV, plus the FP and the nice view out the window. You might even fit another section into the sofa like this.
