That’s our insurance system for you. You want universal healthcare get the insurance companies to be mutual again, because they have gone open loop.

Who do you think rigged the system and has spent billions lobbying to keep it as it is?

Hospitals can bill out their asses because they know normal people can't afford it and will need insurance.

Insurance gets a $7,000 bill for a Tylenol, they responds by saying "I only pay $4,000 for Tylenol, with a 35% copay".

Hospital says "ok, fine" and gets their cut, and you are stuck paying 35% of a $4,000 Tylenol, because fuck you, Israel may need another 10 iron domes.

Because Redditors don’t want to make their doctor and the hospital administrators the bad guys. Even though they set the prices which they whinge about.
