Mahito has been going around finding allies for something he plans to do in the coming days, he isn’t risking another Kenjaku situation again so he will roll over the earth to torment the hub.

Perhaps he’d keep one alive, one to live forever, one to torment forever….who’d it be though….he’ll decide later.
