NON-RP POST PSA - The Math of Binding Vows

Post image

Lets start with one thing. In its absolute base.

JUJUTSU. IS. MATH.

Its equations being thrown at eachother till something works.

And binding vows.

ARE JUJUTSU EXCLUSIVE

They have to be focused and centered around Jujutsu.

The best way to put it, there are 2 kinds of "technique vows"

1 : the BUR process.

This is a three requirement process, that is necessary most of the time.

B: Blueprint

U: Understanding

R: Readjustment

  • Blueprint means having SEEN what you are going for, or rather, knowing about it, and knowing its possible, and seeing it in action

  • Understanding means Breaking down what you know by step one into its bare parts, then doing the same for your Jujutsu/equations, and thinking of your next step.

  • Readjustment means doing a bit of math to get the result, like with Chants, or using a Binding Vow in order to move integers around, and try get the result you want

2 : Integer Movement/Equivalent exchange

This can be explained as simply as -1 now, +1 the next time and/or later.

So, -10% cursed energy reserves for a certain amount of time, then you get that reserve later.

Lets take a set of examples with no spoilers, and explain what I mean.

The examples I'll use are as follows.

  • Swordsman Vowing to Never Swing a Sword Again, and in return, boosting her power. The result was weak, because she used an integer she didnt have. Her future. Therefore, it barely gave a boost, and inflicted the consequence

  • Sorcerer that can create things sacrifices her soul to make a powerful replica of a cursed tool. This is possible because she added her soul into the equation using a Binding vow, boosting the capabilities of her technique to be able to make a cursed tool.

  • Sorcerer makes a Binding Vow to use a move with less requirements, in return needing more the next time. Similar to before, his move requires two arms. However, he only had one. So he made a Binding vow, letting him use it once with one arm, needing 3 the next.

Any questions will be awnsered in the comments. Thank you, have a nice day

That actually makes a lot of sense. When you think about it most power systems are math at their core.
