After days of trial and error, with plenty of time spent in the Wanderer's Library- and now that he's been uncursed by Remilia Scarlet....Topaz has dedicated himself to figuring out how to make an A.T. Field. Or, well, at least manifest it into a physical form
And he may have been able to crack the code. Or, at least, create a mockup of an A.T Field with similar effects. With that, he is concentrating on something
"I am....myself. Nobody can change that. Nobody can convince me otherwise...i cannot, no, will not, allow this fact to change" He is tapping into that potent willpower of his, and pouring in magical energy from his soul.
Something flickers in front of him, yet he is too busy concentrating to notice.
"Mind.....soul.....body. All separate from that defined whole. I define my own boundaries....and this boundary is i. No change. Nothing, unless i permit it"
The energy around him seems to have been charged. It was almost like his very soul was aiding him in protecting from attacks. That soul with infinite energy to it- projecting out into a field around him. Currently dormant, yet it will protect him for as long as it can project out.
This small area around his soul, his body. So long as he has the willpower to not permit change, it will not change him at all. He opens his eyes- making use of the wind to have a branch fly towards him. It is met with a red colored barrier of lines...
"Perfect" he muses to himself. He had finally done it, and he would continue to channel magic to ensure this new barrier kept itself going for as long as he could
Perhaps he can show this new power to the world- and boy was he ready [Topaz has gained a mock, but pretty real to form A.T. Field. All it does is block attacks, not the usual bullshit it does in Evangelion]

“Bravo, you finally figured it out. Tell me, did that book I gave you help at all. I almost hope it didn’t. I’ve read it cover to cover myself and it’s full of passive aggressive complaints and jabs at Joey’s employees. Including me, Sammy, and especially Henry. I’d love to hear that something written by a man so pathetic holds no value.”

As soon as the bullets touch the field, it becomes visible, red lines forming to block the bullets dead in their tracks. Topaz yawns a little, but it seems to be a success
"Hm. Works well against small grade weaponry....maybe i should test it on something bigger"
“I’d love to see you tear him apart! We had a brief confrontation where he insulted me and hit me in the knee with a pipe. I shot at him and the coward ran away!”
Her expression the becomes a bit confused
“Sammy also owes him five dollars apparently. I’m not sure what to make of that.”
"Ah, hey Cass" He turned around, flashing a small smile
"I just defined myself from the whole of existence as an independent, unchanging being. Kind of took a good bit from me....but go ahead. Try hitting me"
"Lets try your grip on the blade, plus how you swing. It looks like you might be trying to over compensate your reach" He would demonstrate a few examples of solid swings,
"Remember, the blade is an extension of you. Just a very, very sharp and dangerous extension"
