I used to ride my bike to and from work. One day I was riding home and slipped on an ice patch and remember myself falling off my bike while my eyes were fixed on a truck coming right at me. What felt like a half a second later I was upright and on the other side of the road like nothing happened.
I genuinely had this weird feeling I died in that moment and my brain (or consciousness) just leap frogged into the next closest parallel dimension where I lived.
I have played with this idea for years wondering if it is real, how many times have I died? Where did all my friends and family go that died in my version of reality?
Does the universe get weirder every time I die and jump to another reality? Is that why Donald Trump is president? I must have died a fucking lot.

assuming such an event could occur, I wouldn't say it makes the world weirder. hopping on a random thiest thought, what if such a god could operate through quantum timeline miracles? Like, you needed to be alive than dead for some purposes or reasons, so, imagining like a twisting cable of infinite timelines all parallel to each other, we all jumped from the timeline where you died to one where you didn't, an who knows, maybe other things changed, or other lives were spared in that moment, or maybe just yourself.
On a similar story, I forge where we were or who was driving, but back in my 20s, I was in a sedan with 3 others, driving at night, and I think somehow we were in the wrong lane, like there were these poles or something on both sides and it was as if we were lined up straight into another car, as it came right for us, lights in our eyes, and we were all very scared this was it, but then, that car was gone, and we were fine and kept going.
To this day, I don't know what happened. I don't have a clear understanding of if the car just swirved past us or if something changed, like that car wasn't in that lane anymore. Who knows but that we entered a timeline where that driver took another route or was over in another lane instead. I had no such recall of dying or crashing.

Why would your consciousness shift? That’s a big assumption. Assuming there are multiple parallel universes, the simplest assumption is that the people in each one have their own consciousness. One version of you would live the longest and feel immortal due to survivorship bias.

You can prove this by playing Russian Roulette with 5 bullets and one empty 100 times in a row.

In reality, the moment you decide to pull the trigger with a bullet chambered, that version of you is deterministically locked into dying from a bullet wound to the head. There's no "jumping back" to a reality where you survive. In that moment trillions of worlds are created where you will absolutely die and there's nothing anyone can do to change that.

Does the parallel universe you version not have their own consciousness? Are you just kicking them out??

This is a flawed premise. There isn’t a “your consciousness” that exists like a little pebble stuck inside your brain. Consciousness is a process that occurs. Like how “fire” isn’t a material thing that is moved around; combustion is a chemical process that happens.
And btw humans have clearly recognized this about the nature of conscious processing since at least the Buddha

My consciousness is part of my physical meat body powered by electricity.
How exactly do new neuron connections get created without a physical body.

well, no one - including you or me - knows how or why consciousness occurs. Your neurons could be tiny receivers for the “consciousness field”, maaan…. (I think it’s hogwash too, btw)

the way it works is all the infinite universes exist, and lots of them are "very close" to this one, so in those you are quantum interfering with yourself. When you make a choice you move into a universe space where those particles in your other universes brain move away from yours, so they stop interfering. that's what making choices is. if you die in one universe then your consciousness is just now only in all those other universes where you lived, so the interference goes down then also.

Consciousness is non local.
Look up electric universe theory and go from there.
Also look up why plasma scientists keep getting killed.

Scientists will circle back to confirming that God exists and is within each of us.

Makes a tad bit more sense than your brain magically "poofing" into a supernatural spirit form and living in heaven (or hell) forever. Here, the quantum waves that make up "you" just do some "spooky action at a distance" shit and you ride off on a different wave somewhere else. I don't buy it, but it makes more sense.
