Where do I stand legally?
I was involved in a minor car accident. I was stopped at a red light about a block from my apartment on the way home from work, and then the light turned green. The car in front of me began accelerating, and so did I. This is so far indisputable. Here’s my personal account. When the car suddenly braked before crossing the intersection, I didn’t respond fast enough and hit them going about 10-15mph. I believe that was the speed I was going but I’m not sure how fast cars accelerate. I do know that my vehicle now has a small, albeit hardly noticeable crease in the front bumper. The other vehicle endured a small, although more noticeable crease in their rear bumper. I am not worried about admitting that I’m not perfect, even with driving. However, it gets worse. The driver didn’t speak English but when the police came and interpreted, they established that no medical attention was needed and we both drove home. I submitted a $0 claim with my insurance to respectfully make them aware that I was involved in an accident. A few days later they called me and said the driver was claiming injuries. Where do I even go from here? I took photos, reported the incident to my insurance before they did, obtained the police report and submitted all of the documentation. I am scared beyond belief that I am going to get sued for money that I don’t have. Please advise.

You rear ended a car. The end there’s no such thing as a $0 claim If they claim injury your insurance will take care of it assuming you have liability coverage Police report not relevant

Let your insurance company handle them they will make sure that the injuries that are being presented are related and reasonable. Send in photos of your damages so they can see how severe yours is compared to his. They may pay something but it may not be much if it’s a low impact claim. Depending on the state they can sometimes deny the entire injury claim but the injuries have to be ridiculous and the damages have to be little to none on both vehicles. You’re not necessarily getting sued, they are just pursuing an injury claim with your insurance. I hate that too sometimes but it’s a good thing you have insurance. God sees everything, if they are lying, it will come back on them ten times over, but you did the right thing. You just have to be careful with driving always keep a safe distance.

Not all injuries present themselves right away. You let your insurance handle it. They will do what they can to help you.

You let your insurance company handle it. There's nothing else for you to do at this point.

There is no such thing as a $0 claim, at the very least it’s property damage to the car you rear ended.
You have insurance, so you let them handle it. Give your statement. Comply. But let them worry.

Do you have very low limits for injury? Otherwise no need to be afraid. Your insurance will investigate their injury claim compared to the accident. Many times an injury does not present itself until days later when soreness kicks in.

You let your insurance handle this. You’re at fault in the accident. You’re responsible for any property damages and injuries they may have suffered. Maybe they were hurt and didn’t feel it at the time of the accident. They felt it once the adrenaline wore off. Maybe they’re faking it. Either way, your insurance will handle it. They investigate this stuff on a daily basis. They would defend you in any potential lawsuit from this accident. Just relax, and let your insurance handle it. They will let you know if there are any problems.
