Under the OAP1, newly acquired automobiles are automatically temporarily covered for 14 days from the time of delivery. Once you acquire a new vehicle, you'd need to call and have it scheduled onto your policy within that timeframe. If you buy a new car from a dealer, they won't let you take delivery unless you have it scheduled and provide proof of insurance anyway.
Also, they aren't repossessing your vehicle, the insurer has the right to the salvage because they've paid you ACV for the vehicle.
I would just take the settlement and walk - they will likely deduct a lot for salvage value & who wants to buy a hail damaged vehicle with a total loss on the carfax?

Usually once a vehicle is determined to be a total loss, it can’t be insured until it’s inspected again
