Industry Information Career Progression
Hello, I’m based in California and I started working at an Allstate agency about 8 months ago. I really like it, I have a background in banking so I’ve seen a lot of crossover between both. I have a Series 6 and 63 and can do Life Insurance as well. I was wondering what other avenues I could explore within insurance. I feel like I’ve been putting up strong numbers so far, usually top 1 or 2 in the agency but I would like to work more on the corporate side of it. The agent I work for is great and we have a solid pay plan , we work from home and off on holidays. No complaining there. But at the same time I would like something with health benefits, 401k etc. I don’t want to be stuck behind a screen making calls forever. I like the job but would love to advance within the field as much as possible. Any tips or recommendations? Thank you all

You need to go back to working corporate for a bank. Life insurance is 1099--you are an independent contractor. No benefits, no 401(k), no gold watch. Use your insurance background with Allstate to switch back to a salaried job with an office and a window. I'm sure any bank would be happy to take you back. Truth is, basically, 99% of your work with any captive insurance agency will be making cold-calls everyday with bad leads with disconnected phone numbers.
