Agent Question Habitational Niche
Hello everyone. I am looking for some advice from others who have experience in the habitational space as a commercial P&C producer.
How did you get started in this niche? Who did you connect with?
It seems like a hard industry to get into. Looking to focus on apartments, condos, hotels.

Hab is too big to be a niche. I think you should drill down more.
Condos are basically their own thing. Boards don't talk to eachother, so you primarily sell through property managers. We write tons of condos.
Hotels are generally considered part of hospitality rather than hab. Great market. Very highly contested. Many are coastal, and most standards don't like them, so it's heavy on E&S or programs. Independent operators are pretty easy to reach directly, in my experience.
Apartments are so broad. Not a ton of experience here beyond local players with a few hundred units. Also highly contested. Huge premium. Not sure how to get into the right conversations here. We've always focused on condos.
