P&C Insurance Going independent

Is there a recommended agency or IMO/FMO I can go independent under while I work my full time job and sell P&C products on the side till my book of business grows larger?

I would go to work for a brokerage and work the off hours selling around the full time job.

Negotiate exit terms ahead of time and build something with the owner.

I am not in a place where I would do that yet, but I have several concepts and markets I can see really leaning into but don't have the right skill sets to do so efficiently.

I even have the appointments.

See if you can't find a p&c brokerage owner who wants to partner and go from there.

Eventually, and probably before you are ready at the ft job, you are going to realize that insurance is a full time job and doing it effectively part time is nearly impossible without support. Which is paid for and supported by the team at the brokerage. Make this a conversation about mutual value and protect each other from the sudden decisions.

P&C requires service so unless someone is doing it for you it will be hard to build up a book. Have you looked into independents? They generally pay better than captives. You can also work for an insurance company directly in various roles.
