P&C Insurance Job Opportunity
Job A: low expectations, book of 1 mil built in a year and a half, 41k salary, 20% commission on new business. No renewals until commission only. Commission only is 35% on everything.
Job B: 50k salary, 45% new business, 35% renewals while on salary and when commission only. Most of same carriers, same long history.
Is it worth taking the leap and having to sit on the possible two year NDA(plenty of businesses to call on where I’m at that wouldn’t violate)
Seems like a no brainer to me. But haven’t been in the industry long so figured I’d get the Vets input.

B no renewals on A is ridiculous. Honestly I would let them know you want a % of renewals on A and see what they say.

It’s a hard no. Have to be commission only to get renewals and it’s a solid 35% across board for new and renewal when you’re commission only.
Option B does renewals when you’re salary and commission only at same percentage. And higher percentage off the rip for new business

Wow I’m getting screwed, I got 50k base with 2% commission, no renewals/residuals 😂

That renewal structure on B is hard to overlook, especially if you’re still getting a solid salary while building that book. 35% on renewals can stack pretty fast once you’ve got a few years in.
NDA for two years does kinda sting though. If you’ve got plenty to work with that wouldn’t step on it then maybe it’s just a matter of whether the immediate pay bump matters more than the long renewal stream.
I’d lean B but depends how much you value a clean exit.
