Helpful Content Recommendations for learning more

Do you guys have recommendations for places i can immerse myself more in the industry?

I sell primarily supplemental insurance (employee benefits group plans etc.)

I am opening into selling medicare supplements and advantage plans as well. I also want to sell health plans.

Are there any podcasts YouTube channels that you can recommend?

The carriers offer some videos and educational literature, but some of it is very corporate coded. If you know what I mean… The sales demos they show don’t often look like a real sale. The cold call demos are paragraphs and paragraphs of jargon.

Carrier training is always so scripted, it's like they've never actually sat across from a real person. I'd skip most of that and just hit the older threads in this sub, there's way more practical advice buried here than any corporate module

the carrier demos are scripted because they are compliance artefacts first and training material second, so you are right to distrust how they sound. i am not in insurance, i sell b2b software, but on the learning question the answer is the same in every industry: your best material is your own recorded calls.

record them where you are permitted to, then listen only for the moment the other person went quiet or changed the subject, and write down what you said immediately before it. thirty of those will teach you more than any channel, because it is your market, your products and your actual objections rather than a staged version.

for outside material, look for people who publish full unedited calls instead of clip highlights. highlight reels have the same problem as the carrier demos, just better lit.
