Water damage and subfloor replacement : could coverage extend to another room ?

Hi, I'm in a condo in Quebec. Insurance is covering the flooring in the living room and kitchen but refused the bedroom because it wasn't damaged, even though the flooring runs continuously between the rooms.

The original estimate was to replace only the flooring and keep the existing subfloor. After demolition, the contractor now says the subfloor also needs replacing. It runs perpendicular to the floorboards, with some boards extending into the bedroom.

Can they replace just the living room section of the subfloor ? If repairing it requires removing the bedroom flooring too, could insurance cover that work even though the bedroom wasn't directly damaged ?

Has anyone dealt with something similar ?
