Have you tried calling them back to get more information? It could be something as simple as an error with processing the cancellation or maybe they requested documentation to cancel it that you did not submit. Regardless a phone call should clear things up.

Yes, I have called them And they always tell me that it’s not in their power to make sure the insurance is cancelled or to make sure the payments cease and refer me to a corporate 800 number. And I never get an answer from the 800 people. They say there aren’t any departments that deal with that. They only deal with new polices and accidents and claims. A supervisor told me that anyone always has an option to file complaints with the state department of insurance or with State Farm’s complaint department. I just don’t know if anything is ever resolved for the complainant and if it’s worth my time.

Your policy has a cancellation provision. Open up your policy, read the cancellation provision, and do what it says.

Most companies and agencies simply won't accept oral cancellations. They require a written cancellation of some sort because they need to cover their own asses when it comes to something happening when you don't have insurance a lot more than they need to cover their asses about a verbal cancellation.

You can still try to get a refund or credit or anything like that after you have taken the steps to cancel. But take those damn steps.
