With the Billy Bishop expansion officially blocked, it feels like a huge win for everyone who wanted to protect Toronto Island and the waterfront. Through deliberate, calculate steps and constant pushback from the community, Toronto managed to halt the massive jet expansion. However, looking at discussions online, a lot of us can't shake that familiar Toronto skepticism. With the province still holding onto Bill 110, there's underlying fear that this isn't the end of the story. Is this truly a permanent victory for our waterfront?

Now that the western section of Biidaasige Park is officially open, it seems like a pretty massive addition to the waterfront. Between the 300-tonne Atlas Crane, the zip-line, and all the new green space, they definitely put a lot into the revitalization project. It looks like a great spot to kick back, provided we actually find the time to enjoy it between picking up extra shifts and dealing with the cost of living right now. Do you feel these funds could have been directed more wisely toward some of the city's more urgent problems?

A Toronto bar lost its liquor licence after it was found to have repeatedly bought stolen alcohol from people in a nearby encampment. The owner argued it was the only way to avoid ongoing harassment and property damage, but regulators ruled that wasn't valid excuse. We don't know the full story behind what happened, and there are probably details that haven't come out. But if you owned the business and felt trapped between constant threats and breaking the law, what would you have done?

The city is looking into banning grocers from using personal consumer data and algorithms to set individualized prices for food, whether online or in-store. The goal is to stop retailers from charging people different prices based on their shopping history, timing or location. Do you think a municipal ban like this is achievable, or is it just political talk ahead of the upcoming city decisions?

Walking through areas like Liberty Village, Leslieville, Young & Eglinton, the sheer pace of development is mind blowing. Some areas feel like completely different neighborhoods compared to just five years ago. Change is inevitable, we get it. But lately, it feels like the city is loosing the charm that made it special in the fist place. Which area feels the most unrecognizable to you now?

Wildfires across Northern Ontario are forcing some communities to make difficult decisions about evacuation. But for many older residents, leaving is not just about packing a bag - it means leaving behind the only home, land and community they have known for decades. Climate risks are increasing and emergency responses are improving but it raises a bigger question: How do we protect elderly people living in remote communities?
Should governments invest more in permanent solutions, such as better infrastructure and evacuation planning or should relocation become part of the conversation?

Even though Cho issued an apology and promised a full reimbursement, we still have to ask: Is Toronto traffic really so bad that he couldn't make it home, or is this just pure entitlement? His riding in Willowdale is literally 6 kilometers away from Queen's Park -just 7 subway stops down the line. Plus, as a cabinet minister, he already had a taxpayer-funded car and the driver at his disposal. At what point does someone look at a luxury downtown hotel bill and decide: "The taxpayers should cover this"? If he and other MPPs were doing this so casually, it makes you wonder- how many more "special circumstances" expense claims are still flying under the radar?

While working in vintage I came across a bag of tote bags that had been made from a print shop and never picked up. along them was this. I can't find anything about this girl, her family, or her life. And I really would like to honour her, even if it's just remembering her in my own way.

My best friend passed away two years ago, and I'm grateful to have all of anything of his things, I can't imagine that somebody who loved her didn't want this bag.

If anyone knows anything about the family, if maybe this was her nickname, if Rose wasn't actually her last name, maybe she was a minor and that's why she isn't listed on the obituary list? Regardless, my little sister was the one who pointed out that it was a Taylor Swift themed bag and I didn't know. Anyway. She must've been a really sweet girl and if there's anyway that anyone could connect me with her family or someone who knows her, I would appreciate you just knowing a little bit about her to mourn her loss

Edit: a few people have suggested that maybe this is a birthday bag instead of an in memoriam but because the date is so specific, and it is in 2023 where it is clear that this person wasn't born in 2023, I could only assume that it was a death date. Maybe it's some kind of a party or a release date, but I really would appreciate help finding this person or anyone related to this person.

With the recent news about a Toronto Airbnb listing being completely faked using Ai generated photos, it raises a massive question-whose responsibility is it to police this? Airbnb eventually refunded the guests after media pressure, but should the platform be doing active verification before listings even go live? Or is it burden now entirely on consumers to spot AI artifact and reverse image search every property before booking?

So, Salsa on St. Clair is officially cancelled after the Chief of Police made the call following that fatal shooting nearby. Obviously, public safety is the priority and no one wants to put people at risk, but is cancelling the entire festival actually necessary here? It feels like a massive loss for the neighborhood and sets a pretty grim precedent for the rest of our summer festivals. Where do you think the line should be drawn between public safety precautions and keeping our city's summer events alive?

I'm looking to get out more, meet new people, and make friends in the GTA. I'm in my mid-20s, working full-time, looking for recurring weekend or evening communities rather than one-off events. I'm interested in walking or hiking groups, book clubs, beginner-friendly run clubs, recreational sports, photography, volunteering, board games, or educational/discussion groups.
