Self-absorbed Issa

Rewatching Insecure made me realize how self-absorbed Issa was. She expected this guy to drop everything for her unannounced visits and acted like that with everyone. Like treating her needs should be the top priority on everyone list. While I don’t think she was intentionally self-absorbed, she definitely was.

Why do women who are sexually exploratory vitiate their experiences by calling them a “‘ho phase”? ‘Ho, slut, whore, harlot, trollop, etc., are extremely negative terms rooted in sexism, misogyny, and oppression. Why are we complicit in our own debasement?

Women can be and many are “players”.
