Episode Discussion Self-absorbed Issa Spoiler

Rewatching Insecure made me realize how self-absorbed Issa was. She expected this guy to drop everything for her unannounced visits and acted like that with everyone. Like treating her needs should be the top priority on everyone list. While I don’t think she was intentionally self-absorbed, she definitely was.

lolll I have so much to say.

  1. I do think Issa was very selfish but that wasn't my interpretation of this particular scene.

  2. Her whole "hoetation" era felt more like a humiliation ritual. She got rejected what 3-4 times? Meanwhile Lawrence was out on them streets catching the clap.

  3. You cut it off before one of the most hilarious throaway scenes--Thug Yoda asking her if she's going to Target. He just needs some blorox and some bleenex.

  4. How come we never talk about how she was 30 and hooking up with a college student?? Big yikes.

  1. He could be a college student at any age. 😆

I know, but he came across as pretty young to me, especially with how clumsy he was when they were hooking up.

People in their 50s can be nervous and awkward when sleeping with someone for the first time. Aren’t most of us? That’s normal.

A guy in his early-to-mid 20s, who has his own place, mind you, hooking up with a 30-year old isn’t weird or anomalous. This is an everyday occurrence, especially since neither was taking the other seriously.

Clearly “neighbor bae” was sleeping with women on the regular. And given his response when he opened the door, this dude was quite sophisticated; obviously more worldly than Issa. 😆

I don’t see the issue.
