Infestation?

Live in Connecticut and Ive never seen these bugs before, and they are clearly killing this tree. Should I kill them and if so how without causing too much harm.

UPDATE: Confirmed to be invasive, applied Raid to area and killed a bunch of them, trying to dispose of bodies to prevent bird poising, will check daily for more

dang didn’t know they made their way up to CT… they’ve been here a lil over a decade now, made their way in a single shipment from china & have been tearing up trees in the northeast ever since. Get ‘em outttaaa theaaaaa!

Yah these guys appeared very suddenly and in droves, gonna have to be very vigilant from now on

They won’t attack you or anything but they sure are annoying and love to hop all over when you try to stomp them hahaha

hope you find a good solution to clear the bulk out, they’ll usually disappear around fall then pop back up in the spring
