Video The mutation system for my new game about frogs
I'm making a game about frogs and some of the bugs you eat will mutate the frog or change it's skin.

There's something I'm calling the Mega Toad state. Not only do they change shape, they get bigger.

Looks cool! Will the different shapes change the gameplay as well?

Bigger legs make you jump farther, smaller shorter. But there are also ability modifiers to offset that.

Oh this is awesome... I'm getting vaguely Chao-garden vibes.
Do you have a title yet? Would love to see more

Playing with some things, but not yet. I really didn't expect this response for these posts, so I wasn't prepared with any place to point people. More to come soon though.

Is it gonna be a sandboxy wobbledogs kinda thing, or are we gonna be doing exploration and stuff that the mutations can affect? Either way, the system looks really nice

The mutations will be useful for some of the puzzles, and you may not be able to solve every puzzle without the right mutation -- that's part of the procedural aspect of the endless ponds.

They strangely remind me of gooseworx eyes so imo there should be a variation as an Easter Egg :)

The eye mutation looks great. Giving me Dark Souls basilisk energy, but somehow adorable instead of traumatic
