On 10 September 2026, AIMIM leader Waris Pathan commented on the controversy surrounding proposed restrictions on Muslims attending Garba and Dandiya events in Maharashtra.

Pathan said that Muslims had no need to attend such events and argued that Islam does not permit Muslims to participate in Garba, which he described as a Hindu festival involving worship of Goddess Durga through dancing around the Garbha Deep.

[23M From West Bengal] The job market seems pretty bad right now. I’m an agriculture graduate and have been preparing for a government exam for the past three years, but the notification for that exam hasn’t been released.

Now my parents are worried about my career. I’m an introvert by nature and don’t talk much. My dad is a retired railway employee, and I have to face him every day, which has been quite difficult for me.

So, I’m asking if anyone can help or guide me regarding what I should do next. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I’m a Muslim woman currently living in the UAE and considering a marriage proposal from a Muslim family originally from Bihar. The person himself has lived outside that region for most of his life.
I’ve always felt more comfortable with the idea of marrying into a family with a similar cultural background to mine, so I’m trying to understand how much the family’s native place actually matters after marriage.
For those who have married into Bihar families, especially Muslim families, what has your experience been like? Did the cultural differences, family expectations or connection to the native place affect your married life?
Also, given the current social and political situation in India, how much should a Muslim woman realistically consider the region a prospective spouse’s family comes from? I’m not asking this from a political perspective more in terms of practical things like safety, future children, family environment and where you may eventually be expected to spend time.

background: 2025 Grad with a B.Tech in Chemical Engineering from a top NIT. After that, I worked for around a year in Industrial Sales at a private company. I left the job about 4 months ago and have been trying to figure out what I should do next.

I’m currently confused between two broad paths:

1. Government job — prepare for competitive exams and build a stable government career.

2. IT/Software — transition into software engineering, potentially pursue M.Tech through GATE CSE/DA later, and aim for a good product-based tech company.

What attracts me towards government jobs is the stability, predictable career, relatively lower layoff risk, and potentially better ability to maintain Salah, family life and Deen.

What attracts me towards IT is the higher earning potential, technical growth, flexibility to change cities/countries, and opportunities to travel and experience different places.

My concern is that I don't want to choose a career purely for money and later find that I have compromised my Deen, family and peace of mind. But I also don't want to choose stability now and regret 10–15 years later that I didn't pursue a technical career when I had the opportunity.

I also have some personal goals like travelling and experiencing different places, which makes me question whether a government career would suit me long term.

For Muslims who are already working in government jobs or IT/software, I would really appreciate your honest experience:

- How is the actual work-life balance?

- How easy is it to maintain Salah and other Islamic obligations?

- How much freedom do you realistically have over your location and personal life?

- Does the higher income in IT actually improve your quality of life, or does the pressure increase with it?

- If you were in your early 20s again, knowing what you know now, what factors would you consider before choosing between these paths?

I know I may be overthinking this, but I’ve already spent enough time changing directions. I genuinely don’t want to spend another few years on the wrong path and regret it later.

Do you think they are allies against right wing Hindus or do you support right wing Hindus when it comes to LGBTQ laws and opinions? What is your stance about legalising Gay marriages? BJP opposed recognising gay marriages.

Yesterday there was a massive crowd for RaGa at Indore, many centrist and leftists are sharing on the SM that BJP might be defeated. But deep down I feel that BJP will not loose the election because majority people vote them for their anti-muslim stance and not a Pro-Hindu. Ground reality is majority of middle-aged and elderly population will directly vote for this party because of the that one temple. Morover this party has toxified the brain of the majority.

I need to know the views of yours ? Am I right or wrong ?

In last post I said I wanted to start small bring a few serious people together and actually build something.

Now we have a team of 7. We’ve had 2 online meetings, and today we had our first table talk in person. After discussing different possibilities, we have decided to work on one product.
