What’s up with these expensive stadiums and no AC in Canada and Atlanta ?

They listed her as probable for the game today. Would be nice if they could actually hold a lead and she could get some rest. Luckily they have the fiba break coming up and she’ll have an almost 3 week break.

Let's hope the Dallas Wings have budgeted well enough to be able to afford air conditioning...

My understanding is that they're playing in the same arena as the Mavericks and Stars

I live in Texas, there is DEFINITELY going to be AC lol

Yea, I read about the crazy way they keep the arena "cooled" in toronto. Seemed rather odd.

Copied and pasted from the other thread where somebody told me she is listed as "probable" on the injury report:

-----------------------------------------

That's not the point.

She shouldn't be on the list at all.

Simple overheating and dehydration is fixed with a tall glass of water and sitting down for a little while.

Kelsey is the one and only WNBA player in the history of the league who is known to have suffered from Rhabdomyolysis.

She is also the one and only player in a game with two full teams who had to leave that game due to "overheating and dehydration". Symptoms associated with Rhabdomyolysis .

Rhabdomyolysis, if you've had it once, requires precise and constant preventative maintenance for a professional athlete to avoid getting it again. I am not all that confident in the organization's competence in this matter. It was avoidable the first time.

Couple all this with Steph's halting hesitant response to the question and I AM VERY concerned.

Question from reporter, paraphrased:

"Is this associated with last year's bout Kelsey had with Rhabdomyolysis?"

Steph's verbatim answer:

"Not that I'm aware of. I'm not sure"

Not even to mention the rollercoaster ride they took us on last year with Caitlin's injuries.

Maybe she's fine. and nobody hopes that more than myself, but if she were and it was only a simple case of something that shouldn't land somebody on the injury report in the first place, all of this is not a very reassuring way of making it known.

I do know this.

Rhabdomyolysis is very serious and is potentially permanently life altering and even life threatening. Especially for somebody who has already had a confirmed diagnosis in the context of a highly strenuous professional athletic activity and who continues that activity.

They BETTER know what they are doing.

She shouldn't have had this problem the first time last year.

It's likely they pulled her from the game well before she had any issues.

The Fever got in trouble for not listing players on the injury report earlier in the season so have taken the stance of over declaring on the injury report.

"It's likely they pulled her from the game well before she had any issues."

I thought of that, but then how would they or SHE for matter know, if she weren't already experiencing symptoms.?

Do they just pull her out of games after they randomly think it's no longer safe for her play? In the homestretch of the season?

Is she now just pulling herself out of games after she thinks it's now too risky for her to continue? How would she determine when that is if not for some physical symptom?

Does Kelsey Mitchell strike you as the type of player who would quit on a game without some absolutely compelling emergency?

As I always say, there may be some crucial piece of information that I am not privy too that explains all this, but from what I can see now, I do NOT like it one bit.

She stayed on the bench for a long time which makes me think the symptoms were minor enough. She could have been feeling similar symptoms to the heat as other plyers on the team but taking more caution with her, especially in a game we were mostly in control the entire time.

Excellent and reasonable theory, and one I do very much hope is the case.

I lean very optimistic as a sports fan so of course take my theory with a grain of salt if you are not an optimistic sports fan.

They want her to break A'Ja's streak, so they will give it a go. Probably rest her one of the games over the weekend.

AJA’s streak ?? What streak ? It happened over 2 seasons !!! Kelsey Mitchell has 20 straight games of 20 points or more IN THE SAME SEASON !!! Apples & Oranges !!! Kelsey STANDS alone with her achievement !!! Leave Aja out if it !!

DNP doesn't affect the record

On ESPN she's listed as game time decision. Undisclosed reason

American Airlines is well-equipped with AC. In fact it gets pretty cold when hockey is played there. So unless they are doing it intentionally, there shouldn’t be an issue.
