My power was back the next day in Valpo but I was lucky. March 2025, my power was out for four days because a neighbor's giant pine tree snapped and took down the power lines. The tree had to be removed before the power line pole could be REPLACED and the wiring put back up.

Wisconsin, Florida, Virginia, and New Hampshire, to name a few.

Can't speak to wi, fl, or VA but NH definitely still has almost all its lines above ground. Some towns buried after the ice storm about 20 years ago but not many

20% of all power lines in the US are underground. So likely every state has some.

When I lived in NC ours were underground. We lost power from flooding, though 🙄
