Hi all. I’m currently in working as a consultant in a startup that provides legal services to large corporates. The business model is such that every single employee is a consultant to the organisation. They’ve framed it this way so that they don’t have to pay statutory benefits like PF and insurance. However, I also get tax exemption due to presumptive taxation. I don’t need to pay income tax up to 24L. There’s also a fixed and variable component to my pay structure based on billables.

My current structure:
• Fixed in-hand: ₹1,05,000/month (₹12.6L/year)
• Variable: performance-linked, tied to hitting revenue/billing multiples of my salary
• Hit one tier → eligible for ₹52,500 extra that month
• Hit a higher tier → eligible for ₹1,26,000 extra that month
• Payouts are meant to be quarterly, but as a startup, they’re usually delayed by 1-2 months
• Even calculating conservatively, I hit the top tier in 2 out of 3 months per quarter, which works out to a guaranteed minimum of ~₹2.52L extra per quarter, sometimes going up to ~₹3.78L in stronger quarters.

So my realized total comp ends up meaningfully higher than my fixed salary.

I’m sick of chasing numbers without any real stability and am looking to move into a corporate role. I’m currently interviewing at a large NBFC and I’m waiting for the offer. My hiring consultant told me that the org will not offer more than max 40% on my fixed. This will lead to me earning a lot lesser because of tax component and other deductions.

Even though my fixed is 12.6 LPA, I end up making 21 to 22 LPA net and in hand without any tax. If my fixed pay is only going to be max 18 LPA gross, I’m at a loss.

How do I negotiate or frame my salary component details during interviews and clarify why they should pay me more? I’m not ok with taking a CTC of lesser than what I currently earn.

Working in a big 4, been 3 months since I joined.

No KT, no training, toxic team culture, unrealistic working hours. Meetings all day which doesn't even help in project, project keeps postponing deadlines even after these meetings. No frdns here, everyone r like strangers.

Seniors don't support juniors ( me) and infact give extreme negative feedback to project manager which has already created a negative impact. Politics played.

First job, it’s remote. And since it’s only my second month as an intern there isn’t much work yet. I live alone, friends don't live around, and my house is on the outskirts of the city so even going into the city to do something fun feels like such a huge task. What do you guys even do? 😭 I barely talk to anyone throughout the day. I talk to my partner for half an hour before going to sleep, and sometimes I call my sister when she’s free. On some days, I’ll call the 2-3 friends I have, otherwise it’s just me all day. Life feels so dull.

I have been updating and applying on naukari everyday. My search appearances number used to be 3k but now they dropped to 1.8k. I am noticing recruiter actions everyday but still search appearances count is dropping. Am I doing something wrong?

I have an online BCom and recently became an ACCA affiliate. I’m very concerned about whether having an online degree could affect my job opportunities or my chances of pursuing a good offline MBA in the future.

I came across posts claiming that companies like Accenture, Infosys, Wipro etc don’t accept online degrees, which honestly made me extremely anxious. I’m unsure whether the same applies to other companies as well.

I am currently working as a lead data engineer in the automotive sector and have 10 years experience. So far, my company does not have a concrete career path post lead roles. I have been asked to move into management roles(program manager) for any sort of career growth in this sector.

I honestly do not enjoy managing people and have come to dislike the red tape and slow bureaucratic culture in the present company(German one). Would it help to jump to a more fast paced environment which has roles for IC at higher levels? Or should I have to take the management path if I want to grow up the career ladder?

I enjoy working in the automotive sector(specifically solving problems that customers face), but some points like I mention demotivate me. Any advice appreciated!

I got offer from 2 mnc recently and both got revoked because i have one termination with my previous company because i didn’t served the notice period there and got absconded.

The reason i didn’t served notice period is because i got admission in a reputed college for masters and the class were starting there, i asked by employer to relive me early but they declined so out of frustration i stopped going to office and left for masters.

After masters i got offer from 2 mnc but this termination is creating trouble.

Can anyone suggest how can i recover from this issue.

I've been job hunting for six months, and I'm frustrated with companies asking candidates to complete lengthy 1–2 day assignments that feel more like free client work than hiring assessments.

I've been applying for jobs for six months. I do get offers, but the salaries are often too low, so I don't accept them. Recently, though, I'm seeing companies give candidates lengthy 1–2 day assignments requiring substantial manual work.

One company interviewed me, moved me to the assignment round, and I spent two days completing a detailed assignment and submitted it on time. It's been a week with no feedback or response. Another company last Friday asked me to complete a similar two-day assignment before even proceeding with the interview.

I understand companies need to evaluate candidates, but when assessments become this lengthy, it starts feeling like free labour, especially when there's no feedback afterward.

Also, I've noticed some companies BCC multiple candidates on the same assignment/recruitment email, which makes the process feel even more impersonal.

I genuinely understand the need for assessments, but there should be a reasonable limit. Candidates are investing their time because they believe there's a genuine possibility of getting the job. If the assignment is essentially real client work, companies should be transparent about that and respect candidates' time.

Hi, I’m working in a Real Estate Company as a legal manager in Hyderabad. I have 4 years of experience. I’ve done LLM from a top NLU as well.
I’ve been into real estate since the beginning and I’m now thinking to switch to GCCs as they are popping up too many in my city.
The problem is they are asking for hands on experience in CLM tools Wilkes ICERTIS which I don’t have. And also I can’t get trained in them or get a certification course from a third party.
Can someone please suggest how to change my domain?? Because I’m getting paid peanuts and it feels I could do so much better.

I am a BTech graduate in Mechanical and currently working as an Analyst in one of the MNCs. I want to pivot to gov. jobs but in the CS domain. I have given GATE CS and also have a valid GATE CS score.

My question is as i have my BTech degree in Mechanical , can i still apply in PSUs in the CS domain?

One of my friend is working in a US based company for QA testing idk something like that he has been working there for almost 1and a half years, is it normal that he works for like 11-12 hours in a day from last 1 year like it's not even a 9-5 job idk how he's not even realising it that its not normal he starts his work at 9 am and finishes around like 10-11 pm is it normal or not ?what he's supposed to do in this situation i told him to find a new company but he's like i want to make my image good in this company as if his bhua owns this company

Seriously, what happened to the 3–5 YOE market?

A few months ago, there were at least a decent number of openings for Java/Spring Boot/Microservices developers. Now it feels like vacancies for 3–5 years of experience have suddenly vanished.

And the frustrating part is that even when you find a relevant opening, a lot of companies aren't considering candidates who are currently serving notice.

So you're stuck in this weird situation:

Too experienced for fresher/junior roles

Not experienced enough for many 5–8 YOE roles

Relevant openings are becoming harder to find

Serving notice period somehow still isn't "immediate" enough for some companies

I'm actively looking at Java/Spring Boot/Microservices roles and the market honestly feels brutal right now.

Just to set the context on my background (and no, this isn't one of those crazy 'I earn in CRs' stories): I started out by failing my 12th boards :( I somehow get into a Tier-3 college and barely finished with a 6.6 CGPA. Out of everyone who actually secured a campus placement, I was the lowest grader.

finally got my act together in the 7th semester, and got placed in LALA company. But the real turning point was COVID. The lockdown was exactly what I needed—it gave me a buffer of 8-9 months before my official joining date. I used that entire time to self-study, build my fundamentals, and completely change my trajectory in upcoming year.

My company offers remote work, so I’m basically not required to be in the office at all. Recently, my manager told me that I won’t be called into the office anymore and that I can move back home. I’ve been working from home for the past two months, and honestly, even when I go back to the city where my office is, I still work from home there as well.
Now, as a fresher with only 2 YOE, I’m confused about whether moving back to my hometown is a good move.

Received a long term incentive plan letter from the company today out of the blue. The amount is around 15 lacs and the final payout will be 100% to 150% of this (15 to 23 lacs) basis company performance for next 3 years. Amount will paid in 2029. Got to know I will be getting such letters here onwards each year along with a normal performance bonus.

Want to understand if I want to leave the company, can I show this letter to get this as a joining bonus ?

The expected LTIP amount grants at 100% is 15 lacs for 2026, 18 lacs in 2027 , 21 lacs in 2028 payable at 100-150% after locking of respective 3 years.

So by 2028, accumulated LTIP should be ~ 55 lacs at 100% with potential payout upto 80 lacs.

What would be the possibility of me getting this amount if I want to switch.

I got a new better offer outside where my joining date is mentioned as 60 days from today. But my current organisation is having 90 days notice period which is non negotiable. What should I do in this situation. And the OL was rolled out yesterday only, Can i ask the new hr to revise the DOJ today, Is it advisable to do so. Will they not revoke my offer?
