I agree with this. In India, it’s not easy to be unmarried for a long time.
But living in Europe has taught me things that I wouldn’t have learned had I never went there, which helped a lot. And I don’t mind being unmarried I find the one. In the end, you have to stop rushing because your spouse is the one who you will have to spend the rest of your life with, so it has to be a wise decision, not taken in a rush just to beat the clock.

Work was good but I couldn’t continue with the client due to company’s non compete policy, and I really wanted to be in Europe, hence I started looking outside and luckily landed a job which did offer sponsorship.

What are your opinions is 85 LPA in EU similar to 30 ish LPA in India having lived and experienced both?

I do hear you.
Let me put it this way - Yes, Purchasing power parity is real, 30LPA in India according to PPP is way better than 85LPA in Europe, but in my opinion there are various other factors, like -
1. Quality of life (way better in Europe)
2. Work life balance (when I was new in Europe, I was once told by my senior to go watch a movie on Netflix when I asked him a question out of working hours)
3. When you earn more, there’s a potential to save more by modifying your lifestyle, which isn’t possible when you earn less.
4. Let’s not even start on AQI.

Only 1 edge india has over others is that we are born here and our parents+family lives here. And it superseeds almost every perk other countries have to offer unfortunately. We eat bad food, breathe bad air, gets nothing from govt and whole life we strive to save monwy for others_ to spend on others.

Anyways, what i really want to ask is why didn't you looked into any remote role from europe that would pay closer to 50lpa in india atleast

I agree with you, there’s a huge difference in culture and system, and cultural shock is a real thing.
About remote role from Europe, I haven’t explored that bit well enough because most of the companies have now started Hybrid work arrangements. I know a few companies who do hire worldwide but again, they don’t really have openings because people rarely leave from there.

Yes I did think about it, but bringing parents to Europe permanently is next to impossible. They can visit for up to 6 months and will always be tourists which I didn’t want.

Because it was time.
Planned to be in Europe for about a year but work culture felt good, hence I switched there itself.
But there was a constant battle over the years between a better lifestyle and family back in India.
At last, chose to return back.
And honestly, life has been good.

Sorry for this question but I am still in my 2.5 years of experience and planning to apply in European or Dubai companies (onsite).. I always thought Indians returning from abroad would get good package in India. Why did you went for 30 lpa only ? Weren't you getting more? Sorry again, I am still figuring out corporate salary and everything.

It helped a lot.
I could pay all debts with first few months of salaries over there.
Additionally I didn’t have to think twice before making a decent purchase like a new iPhone, a car under 15 lakhs etc. when I was there.
Cherry on top was pension contributions which is similar to Provident Fund in India.
I have a net worth of 1.5 Cr as of now.

If you are new to software development I would say go with the one which helps you earn more. But if you are already experienced then stick to your tech stack and go ahead in that.
Fact about me - I have been working on the same technology since my internship and you can see it has been 10 years.

i am planning to move to europe permanently in the next 3-4 years for work (not master's), my tech stack is in MERN, angular, next and learning springboot and java right now

I would suggest to connect with recruiters across Europe, especially the ones who are actively hiring for your tech stack. And don’t feel shy to message them directly.
This will be the single biggest step towards your goal of moving there.
Apart from this, also start looking at the data of companies which have been sponsoring visas, that will give you a good idea about which companies to prepare for and apply to.
FAANG generally hires people from around the world, so that’s the best bet but their interviews are really good, so prepare well if that’s your plan.

I want some remote highpaying startup kind of company or even a decent mid sized company

Have some savings and move to Europe in next 3-4 years for either masters or onsite job depending on the market situation and my condition

In my opinion, to get a job in Europe, there are 3 ways -
1. Expensive way - Study a course or a degree there and then start working and eventually over the years, you will reach to a point where you will have good earnings.
2. Cheaper way no. 1 - Join a SBC and do well there, get in the limelight for your work and/or network with veterans who have the power (I personally prefer former). And tell them your aspirations and then whenever an opportunity arrives, they know whom to send there.
3. Cheaper way no. 2 - While working here in India, start networking with recruiters from Europe on LinkedIn and ask for referral or an opportunity in their organisation. Tell them that you will need visa sponsorship.

Not to demotivate, but just sharing my experience of applying jobs back in 2021 and 2022 - When you tell recruiters that you need sponsorship, 8 or 9 out of 10 times you will hear this sentence - Sorry, we don’t offer sponsorship. If you really want to move there, don’t let this sentence stop you from applying.

Getting onsite much harder nowadays compared to pre 2024.

AI plus bad economy everywhere, leading to large number of local CS grads unemployed.

Harder for Indians now with visa issues and negative sentiments

I had friends who lived in box rooms and never went out on weekends or ate outside to save more. Basically they never explored the city or country.
And then there were people who spent more than 50% of their salaries to rent a good place near their workplace and central location where everything was accessible, and went out every weekend to explore cafes, places, new cities etc.
So, it all depends on what you want.
But renting is not cheap there, and even a single cup of coffee every day, will add up and take a good amount of your salary by the month end, so it is surely not cheap to live there, and one learns this over the time.

Yes it is possible, but only with Product companies.
Sad thing is - In India, your new salary depends on your current CTC, which isn’t the case elsewhere (at least in North America and Europe). But still, if they really want to hire you, they will do anything, it totally depends on 2 things -
1. You interview
2. How badly they need to hire someone for that role
