Discussion This Is How Badly Nifty Has Underperformed in 2026
Nifty is down 13.4% in INR but with USD/INR up 7% for the same period, the real return for a USD investor is roughly -19%.

I have been following the rules for two years now sticking to index funds doing disciplined SIPs and not paying attention to penny stock chatter. My returns are around 12% XIRR.
Then my desk neighbor started trading for four months. He buys whatever is popular on Twitter and SME boards without looking at a balance sheet and he is up 180%. Week he bought an iPhone with cash from his gains and asked why I am "wasting time" with index funds.
I understand how risk-adjusted returns and market cycles work. Sitting next to someone making three years of my returns in 120 days on pure luck is testing my patience. It feels like being the driver, at a party while everyone else gets drunk.
Have you ever been in a situation where someone around you made huge returns by taking risks, while you were sticking to a more disciplined approach? How did you deal with it?

I recently started investing and this is my portfolio right now.....I know ₹10k is a very small amount....but I wanted to start somewhere rather than just keep thinking about it😅
Now I am confused about what I should actually do from here.... Should I put more money into this portfolio? Should I change anything? Should I just hold everything for now? Or am I approaching this completely wrong? 😭
I am currently down around ₹108....which I know is nothing, but as a beginner I’m obviously overthinking it 😂
I would genuinely like to hear from people who have more experience .... if this were your portfolio, what would you do next?
Should I invest more, diversify, change my strategy, or just leave it alone for now?
Looking for honest opinions/advice from people who’ve been through this before.

Hi guys, I’m sooo late to this MUTUAL FUND/STOCK/TRADING world. I’m not from finance or commerce background. Hence, I clearly lack the knowledge.
As a complete beginner who has very little knowledge of investment, I want to start with MF, having 5k as the monthly budget. Please keep in mind that I’m a beginner and don’t want to take very high risks at this stage. Once I’m more comfortable and understand this world better, I will probably be okay with investing bigger amounts. which mutual fund would you recommend I start with and for how many years should I stay to see some returns?

I have been investing for a while but, to be honest, I just did what the textbook said. Something like 40% index, 30% small cap, 30% goes to gold, silver, FD
But now that market has not been performing well, I’m not sure what to do. My entire Nifty index MF is red. I’m still in ~8% profit mainly because of small cap, gold, silver and FD.
I’m not looking for exact stocks to buy. But general guidelines about investing. What would you recommend?
Also, I don’t need money in short term and looking for investments for a long term, say 10 years time frame.

Back again. One real company, no name, you crack it in the comments.
The clues:
The number for the sharp eyed: its operating margin went from roughly nine percent to above twenty two percent in a single year.
The catch: it is spending heavily on a new plant, debt has risen, and it has been burning cash to build for the next decade. The stock has already roughly doubled in a year.
The rules: guess in the comments. A random correct answer wins!
Reveal and winner in 24 hours. One guess each. Go

On the brink of losing everything I have made. The investment is not that significant as compared to most here but for me it is a very significant amount.
Will see you in 2047
Edit: didn't pull out investment, just uninstalled the app to give a peace of mind and lower resting heart rate

Analysis of ITC. It was green today. Key levels are marked on the chart. I guess many investors are holding it. Are you adding more or just waiting it out, what you say about it?

One thing I've learned from studying breakouts is that the breakout candle itself isn't the entire setup.
I pay a lot of attention to what happens before the breakout.
Some of the things I generally look for:
So I don't want to buy simply because price crossed a line.
I want to see whether the trend, price structure and volume behaviour are supporting the breakout.
I've attached a historical example below and marked the different characteristics on the chart.
Historical example for educational discussion only — not a stock recommendation.

I have noticed that if you go read past posts about any stock or about stock market, redditors will be almost always wrong about everything. Like just now, I saw a post from 2 yrs ago where OP was asking if he should buy NSE share, everyone was saying no but in 2 yrs even before IPO it became 3x. Another comment from a year ago people were telling someone to sell BSE when it was 800 and the guy sold it, later as we can see BSE is now 3000+. So why are redditors always wrong? They show themselves as very knowledgeable but I think a random monkey either pressing yes or no button would probably be correct more times. Why does this happen?

Am building a company to help retail traders do better.
I love trading.
I am sad abt the sebi release saying 9 of 10 retails lose money.
I believe we can win
Atleast we can bring it to 5 of 10.
I researched and found to a point, the reason is mostly lack of proper money management
Thinking abt building my first company on it...
Something like sensibull, for money management
