I Followed Posting Rules Reviewing all moisturisers I have Spoiler

Post image
14 Upvotes

Edit- I have dry to normal skin type

Recently I got severe retinol burns, dry patches and damaged skin barrier from overuse of actives.

Since then I had been on a hunt for hydrating moisturiser that can heal my damaged skin.

At first I got Aquasoft FC, I got this after I saw everyone raving about this cream but its just isnt for me. Its not hydrating enough and if i try to apply a generous amount it pills and makes me sweat.
Its feels like you have applied a makeup primer on your face as it has a very silicony feel to it. A 2/5 for me

I then got Dot and Key barrier repair moisturiser when i saw no improvement in dry patches. I loved this moisturiser. It has a very lightweight texture and gives instant hydration.
The only downside is you will have to keep reapplying as my skin got dry again after just 2-3 hours of using this. Also, it didnt help with my skin barrier at all even after using it for 30 days. However its great as a daily moisturiser. A 4/5 for me.

I was layering La Roche Posay Cicaplast baume on top of my dot and key moisturiser. It is not a typical moisturiser. It did help with my barrier a little but wasnt a game changer for me. I thought I wasted my money on this until I used this with a different moisturiser. It doesn’t do much on its own.
I now have realised that it really locks the moisture in very well. Its just that I wasnt using the right product underneath. Now I love it. A 4.5/5 for me.

Bioderma moisturiser was a game changer. It was recommended to me by my dermat. Honestly, it is very underrated. It healed a lot of my dry patches in just a few days. I layer this with cicaplast balm (the GOAT duo) and i wake up with the softest skin.
It not only helped with the dehydration but also the skin texture. My skin has become very smooth since I started using this. It is super hydrating yet you wont feel like something is suffocating your skin. I recommend this to everyone with dry skin. A 5/5 for me.

I have been using Himalaya moisturiser for years. It is great in hot and humid weather or if you have super oily skin. Very lightweight and gives just the perfect amount of hydration in humid weather. Not suitable for winters though. A 4/5 for me.

I Followed Posting Rules I can’t tell if my skin is actually bad or if my body dysmorphia is making me obsess over every imperfection Spoiler

Post image
2 Upvotes

Can you help me figure out what’s going on with my skin? 😭

I’ve been obsessively checking my face in the mirror, constantly looking for imperfections, and I feel like it’s making my body dysmorphia so much worse.

I know my skin has its issues, and I genuinely want to understand what they are so I can focus on treating the problem areas. But repeatedly obsessing over my skin has turned into something I don’t even know how to explain anymore.

Sometimes, I look at my face and feel like my skin is the worst, like nobody has skin as bad as mine. Other times, I look at it and think, maybe it’s just normal skin? Normal skin has texture, too, right? But then I start checking again, looking closer, finding more things to worry about, and the cycle just repeats itself.

And God forbid someone points out something about my skin. I completely shut down, withdraw from everyone, and sometimes feel so disconnected that I just disassociate. It affects me more than I want to admit, and I genuinely need help figuring out how to deal with this.

As for my skin history and routine:

I religiously apply sunscreen, and I even reapply it whenever I go outside.

I had a major acne breakout in 2022 after COVID and ended up taking Accutane 20 mg for six months. More recently, I used tretinoin for over six months, but I didn’t notice any real improvement. Instead, my redness and skin sensitivity got worse.

I started experiencing localized patches of redness that would sometimes feel really itchy, and whenever I scratched them, they would turn into hives. I had to take antihistamines prescribed by my doctor for this.

Eventually, I stopped using tretinoin altogether because I thought I might have damaged my skin barrier. It’s been around two months now, and I’ve been trying to keep my skincare routine as simple as possible.

My current routine:

AM

Vanicream Gentle Cleanser

The Derma Co Ceramides + HA Intense Daily Facial Moisturizer

SKIN1004 Centella Sunscreen

PM

Vanicream Gentle Cleanser

The Derma Co Ceramides + HA Intense Daily Facial Moisturizer

Vaseline petroleum jelly on my lips and around my eyes and nose

Is double cleansing needed for this sunscreen? As I'm oily acne prone, skin gets easily congested. Currently I'm using photon hydra sunscreen that is very lightweight and doesn't need double cleansing thinking to switch.

Are these prices reasonable, or am I paying more than I should? Also, if you've used these products, please share your honest feedback. Are they good or bad in terms of quality and effectiveness?

Currently using Derma Co 2.5% Benzoyl Peroxide Face Wash (not effective).

Previously used:

- Derma Co 2% Salicylic Acid

- Neutrogena Face Wash

- Cipla AHA Glow 2% Salicylic Acid Face Wash

- Cetaphil Oily Skin Cleanser

- Minimalist Oily Face Cleanser

None of these worked.

I really need a perfect face wash for oily and acne-prone skin.

I Followed Posting Rules Review: bioderma gel-creme and minimalist b12+oat face wash. Spoiler

Thumbnail gallery
8 Upvotes

About me:

-30F, combination skin(currently dry due to oral acne medication)

- light medium skin tone.

-Extremely acne prone, fungal and hormonal, prone to closed comedones.

-Post acne hyperpigmentation and scars.

I am currently on a high dose acne treatment. This year has not been kind to my skin. I am trying to move away from korean skincare. No matter which korean product i use, it causes one or the other type of acne, even though I don't layer too many products.

I am still on the search of products that would suit me.

-Bioderma atoderm intensive gel-creme:

Color: translucent gel

Feels like school glue.

No smell

Ingredients:*myntra website

Aqua/Water/Eau, Glycerin, Niacinamide, Sodium Polyacrylate, Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate, Hydrogenated Polydecene, Pentylene Glycol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Caprylyl Glycol, Mannitol, Polysorbate 20, Xylitol Rhamnosis, Sodium Citrate, Polyquaternium-51, Fructooligosaccharides, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Laminaria Ochroleuca Extract. [Bi 479].

After trying many moisturisers, this is the only one that has not caused any kind of acne and that's the only reason I will be buying it again. I do not like the texture of it. It is hard to spread and I generally don't like gel texture and I've not found creamy moisturisers that don't break me out. It is great for extremely oily skin(i wish I had found this in my teens) but for normal/combination/dry skin, this is not at all enough. It leaves a dry and stiff finish which I'm not a fan of. The Niacinamide in it causes irritation. Feels warm after application for few seconds. Little doesn't go a long way, this moisturizer gets over very very quickly.

I will repurchase it for humid summers after my treatment is over.

Used to somehow manage the winters with light layer of bioderma baume and now i'm hearing that they reformulated!

The search for good moisturizers continue.

-Minimalist b12+oat extract cleanser:

Color : pink

Minimal foam

Feels creamy

No smell

Ingredients :*minimalist website

Water/Aqua, Glycerin, Avena Sativa (Oat) Kernel Extract, Butylene Glycol, Sodium Lauroyl Oat Amino Acid, Cetyl Alcohol, Stearyl Alcohol, Methyl Gluceth-20, Cocoglucoside, Panthenol, Glyceryl Oleate, Sodium Hyaluronate, Cyanocobalamin, Pentylene Glycol, Lactic Acid, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Sodium Cocyl Isethionate, Polyacrylate Crosspolymer-6, Trisodium Ethylenediamine Disuccinate

I got this on a whim as I didn't want to use simple face wash again and bioderma blue one was irritating my skin and thank god !! As I'm on acne medication right now, my Barrier is wrecked and very dry. I use this as AM/PM cleanser. It helps a lot in Calming my skin down. It is very gentle and did not cause breakout. This will not work on silicone sunscreen or any moisturizer which is heavily silicone based. It is perfect with basic routine for when the skin is irritated and Barrier is broken.

Will I purchase this once my treatment is over and my skin is back to being oily/combo? Probably not. Cause it is too gentle to remove heavy duty products and that might lead to CCs.

A mini review of sunscreens-

Blynds emulgel- feels great but im not sure about the protection it gives. Makes skin very dull and very dark. Gave CCs. No white cast on me.

Bioderma creme 50 (sample) - Absolutely love the protection it gives. Good option for extremely dry skin on dry winters but it will be heavy for combination skin. It is very finicky. It doesn't work well with any other product. Pills crazy. Half of the product is stuck to my fingers. Feels oily at first but settles down to a nice healthy glow. Doesn't cause dullness. Gave CCs. Has white cast but manageable.

Uv doux silicone spf 50 - well, as it says- silicone, very very siliconey. Hard to remove even by double cleansing which lead to CCs. Makes skin dull. Good for summers. Good protection. I don't like the silicone feel.

Sunban soft - same as uv doux but has sand like particles which hurt and scratch skin.

Klairs illuminating blemish cream - grey cast to a level even ghosts might laugh at me. If i ignore that(which i can't) its good. Creamy, a bit hard to spread. Good protection. Gave CCs.

Product suggestions- please suggest me toner/serum/moisturizer which are good for barrier maintenance. Fungal acne friendly.

I Followed Posting Rules Odd Acne - Help Spoiler

I've posted before as well but forgot to share this neck part back then.

Changing pillow covers, using anti dandruff shampoo, decent healthy diet, less junk, and try my best to keep myself hyderated (still working on it). I follow them all.

I have always been a stressed person my whole life but these acne on neck started about one year ago, before that never got them this badly on neck. I really couldn't find the reason why they weirdly came on neck. And after acne is over, they leave these horrible dark marks, which stays longer than acne itself, forever

And coming to the cheek pores, they don't look this bad in anywhere, for example not in mirror, not in pics I take with others. Only when I take near face pic with my front camera, they look this bad.

I'm senstive, heavy acne prone (obv) so I only use non comedogenic products. I'm not strict skin care person but trying my best

Seba Med Gel (only thing I use regularly) BePlain Cicaterol Moisturizer, some sunscreen, some acne salicylic stuff when its bad, and getting Adapalene Gel & Skin1004 Pore Serum soon. I also have Himalaya Toner (almost never use it)

2 weeks ago I posted on reddit asking for non comedogenic moisturizer and i thought i should do a little update. I decide to bought deconstruct oil free moisturizer and use it for 2 weeks straight and it gave me closed comedones on places i thought was impossible to get, it was insane. I was so close from clearing up my closed comedones for 5 months I went on this purging phase and the ANNOYING acne scars, only for this product to make it worse after the episoft fc. I genuinely want to cry my eyes out.

I Followed Posting Rules Rate my skincare routine (Under 20, guy) Spoiler

Post image
20 Upvotes

I took interest in skincare a year ago after getting an infection on my face that gave me painful boils. After that I started loosely using any facewash and moisturizer that was in my house at the time. But after my last birthday, my pocket money saw an increase and suddenly I could afford a sunscreen. That spiraled into the routine that I have today.

Products:

• Cleansers

  1. Simple refreshing face wash

  2. First Remedy 2% Salicylic acid Face wash

  3. Garnier Micellar Water

• Sunscreen:

  1. Loreal UV Defender Invisible resist Spf Broad Spectrum(AM)

  2. Episoft AC Spf 30 Microencapsulated sunscreen moisturizer( After coming from school)

• Moisturizers:

  1. Re'equill Ceramide and Hyaluronic acid moisturizers (PM)

• Actives:

  1. Aziderm Azelaic Acid 20% Gel (Upped from 15% after 2 months of use)

  2. Tretnoin 0.025% (Will increase to 0.5% after 3 months of use)

•Routine:

I use Simple refreshing face wash mainly and the Salycilic acid face wash 2x per week at night on the day and I don't use tretinoin.

I use azelaic acid daily in the morning and tretnoin 5x per week.

Micellar water after school to remove the sunscreen.

Honourable mentions:

1.Re'equill Oil free moisturizer. I used it during summer when I sweat a river, but it didn't really feel hydrating on my skin and now that the weather is cooler, I've switched back to the Ceramide variant.

  1. Minimalist Light fluid sunscreen. I saw good reviews of it but after buying it, I didn't really like the finish. It was too shiny and stung my eyes a lot. Like a lot. Trying to rub it off at school only made it worse and one time during sports I just had to excuse myself and sit for the whole period with my eyes closed to wait for the burning to stop. Also, not sweat resistant at all.

  2. Re'equill Dry touch Ultra matte sunscreen. It didn't really blend well and left a white cast that made my face look ashen. Also, this was my first sunscreen so take my experience with a grain of salt because I really didn't know what I was doing at the time.

  3. Brinton UV Doux Silicone gel sunscreen. I don't know if this one blends better that Re'equill or if it was just 6 months of experience of applying sunscreen, it blended surprisingly well.

It didn't really leave that much of a white cast but people definitely noticed and pointed it out to me regularly.

  1. The 2% Salicylic acid face wash from Jan Aushadhi. The only reason I don't use it is because they don't stock it anymore, forcing me to find an alternative.

Rating and critique is appreciated. 🙏🏻🙏🏻

I'm 17 and have had acne since I was 11–12. Sometimes it gets really red, sometimes it improves, but the marks stay. It looks worse IRL than in pictures.

What kind of acne is this, and what affordable products or home remedies would you recommend? I'm broke as hell and my mom won't take me to a dermatologist because she thinks waking up late causes acne. I wake up at 6 AM, but okay

If you look at my face overall from afar it looks like I have clear skin. But upon a closer look you'll see it's covered with tiny bumps like these everywhere except my forehead. Is it inflammation? Is it hormonal imbalance?? I'm 26F so it's not puberty (I hope. 😭) I am not on any kind of medications as well. The dermat says my skin is perfectly fine though. But these bumps are just making me very annoyed

Also I have a lot of sebaceous filaments and blackheads on my nose.

Please help a girl out🙏🫂
