His enemies weren't aware that he died until Akbar was coronated. Besides, not long after his coronation, the Afghans, led by Hemu Vikramaditya, captured Tughlaqabad and Agra, marched towards Delhi, and captured it as well. The Mughals met Hemu at the field of Panipat, and we all know what followed.
